Body Oil vs. Body Lotion

There are a couple of things that are just understood when it comes to a beauty routine.

I’m not even talking about skincare or makeup either. Things like, for example, brushing your teeth, giving your feet and your nails some love… even the *intimate* products no one talks about. If you’re like me, one of the first things I do when I hop out of the shower is: moisturize. I usually slather on some body lotion and call it a day… but sometimes I feel like it doesn’t moisturize my skin as much as it should, especially as we move into the colder and drier months.

I know some of the girls on the CINCteam use body oil instead of body lotion post-shower, but is one truly better than the other? I decided to do some research, and here’s what I found:

So our skin naturally produces oil, called lipids. Basically, they’re your skin’s natural fats. They keep moisture IN and dirt & impurities OUT. They also help your skin’s natural repair process.

Here’s what you need to know about BODY OILS:

Ideally, use a body oil when your skin is still wet/damp post-shower so that it can lock in that moisture and gives you tons of hydration. The oil gets absorbed into your skin, which treats it like its own, and leaves your skin super moisturized, soft and cuddle-able.

Here’s what you need to know about BODY LOTION:

There’s just something so luxe about putting on a creamy body lotion! Lotions work best on dry skin because they’re generally made up of a mixture of water and oil.Lotions are great for penetrating your skin to deliver hydration.

So should you be using one over the other? Turns out, you should be using whichever works best for you! Just so long as you’re moisturizing your body after your shower, it doesn’t really matter if you use a body oil or a body lotion. Jane likes to mix her a few drops of her body oil into her body lotion and then apply!! Hannah likes to use body oil after she shaves her legs and body lotion on the other days!

PSA: for drier months, make sure you turn on that humidifier or diffuser to get more moisture into the air!

What do YOU guys think? Are you team body lotion, team body oil or team both? Drop a comment down below and let me know!
PS: thanks for modeling, Hannah!
