Though I love a good vacation, nothing feels quite as good as coming home and sleeping in my own bed!
No matter how excited I am to be home, I get even more excited to get back into the swing of things: like getting my eating habits back on track and more importantly – getting my skin back to normal! After being on a plane for too long, and how much of a toll traveling can take on your skin, I have a few things I always do when I get home to feel better from head to toe!
Keep scrolling to check out my post-travel detox routine!
Start from Within
I’m sure you guys have heard me say this before, but good skin really comes from the inside out! So to start my post-travel detox routine, I always make sure to start with my insides first. These Daily Cleanse Supplements from Hum clear your skin, liver, kidneys, lungs and lymphatic system from toxins! They’re 100% natural, 100% vegetarian, GMO and gluten free with no preservatives! Additionally, I’ll drink some hot lemon water to help aid with digestion and really get those toxins out. I like to take a detox vitamin when I’m not pregnant. If you, like me, are currently pregnant, I wouldn’t recommend taking the detox supplements during pregnancy unless approved by your physician.
Mask O’clock
You guys know how much I love a good mask, and there are tons out there to totally revive your skin. I’ve been loving these right now to detox and rehydrate my face.
This YTTP Superfood Skin Reset Mask which you might remember me talking about in this post here smells delicious! It’s got a bunch of superfoods in it, tons of vitamins and minerals and is basically like a reset button for your face!
For a mini facial in a jar, I reach for the Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask from Fresh! It helps moisturize, revitalize and it has seaweed flakes, red algae particles, and lotus seeds to help refine and make your skin as soft as a baby’s bottom.
So if you’re like me- you can always expect at least a pimple or two after traveling. Enter: the activated charcoal clay masque from Banish! It deep cleans your pores, helps control oil and gets rid of blemishes. The coolest part about it is that it comes in a powder form so you can customize it by mixing in your favorite essential oils.
If I feel like I need some really deep cleansing, then I’ll grab this mask from Omorovicza which you might remember from this post here! It’s a mud and clay mask rich in calcium and magnesium designed to clean out your congested pores and refine your skin leaving it super soft and smooth.
Get Your ZZZ’s
There’s nothing worse than jet lag. So a great way to get my zen on after a long trip is to break out my diffuser! I use lavender oils to help my body get relaxed and ready to sleep so I can readjust to my normal sleeping schedule as quickly as possible. This diffuser can be for 3 hours of non-stop aromatherapy or 7 hours of 30-second intervals. Lavender essential oil is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits.
I’ve also been using a Slip Silk Pillowcase (pictured above). It’s great for your hair and skin, prevents wrinkles and face creases from happening to your skin (we all know what it’s like to wake up with a sleeping line on our face! Doesn’t make us feel our best), and makes sure your hair doens’t get damaged during your sleep.
Do you have any ways you like to detox in particular after a trip? I want to hear them! Let me know in the comments below!

These are great tips. Traveling can be difficult for the body and skin so it’s really important to rest and detox after.

I think it’s so important to make to establish your detox plan before you leave, so when you get back everything is ready for you and you’re not left trying to figure out what you need to do. I love calming home to a calm, organized house.

it really helps! glad you enjoyed the post! xo
Great post and tips! While I have yet to experience jet lag, I read several travel blogs that mentions exercising right after you get off the plane. They recommend stretching and exercising to help your body get back into it’s circadian rhythm.
