Throughout both of my pregnancies, I’ve found myself turning more and more to natural and clean products.
Not to mention that when you have a 4 year old and an infant, I’ve become even more hyper-aware of the products I use on the girls, myself and around the house. (PS: check out my clean beauty picks here and Jane’s eco-friendly story here!) I’ve done so much research on different holistic treatments and I love learning about all the amazing natural remedies out there. Around my house and the office, it seems like we can’t stop talking about all the amazing benefits from Turmeric. If you remember from this post here, I used this face mask/scrub made with turmeric while I was pregnant with Colette, and it opened my eyes to all of the amazing things turmeric does for you.
If you don’t know what turmeric is, it’s a type of spice that’s a healing herb and part of the ginger family. It’s widely used for its restorative powers and gorgeous warm yellow hue. It’s benefits include:
- Mental clarity
- Anti-Inflammatory
- Natural pain killer
- Supports heart health
- Improves mood
… just to name a few!
It can be used topically and internally. From foods to teas, to face masks and supplements- it’s a serious miracle herb! I’ve seen turmeric lattes, teas, face masks, gr8nola, serums, supplements, milk, seasonings, and even hair products.
Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. So when looking for a turmeric supplement, be sure to look to see if it has curcumin. Another thing to be mindful of is black pepper because curcumin is easier absorbed when there’s black pepper, so a lot of supplements include it.
Turmeric also stains easily, so if you’re using it as a seasoning or in a DIY mask, be mindful and don’t wear an all white dress like I did here. (PS: check out this DIY Turmeric mask for under eye circles!)
Here’s a roundup of some of my favorite turmeric products:

I’ve read about the benefits of turmeric, but I’ve had trouble implementing it into my diet because I dislike the taste. For some reason it never occured to me to take a suplement. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don’t love the taste either, so you’re not alone in that! Hope you get to give it another try! xo

My sister make a drink with turmeric.
Yum! xo
I take an oral supplement daily as well as drink Golden Milk a few times a week. I’ve also recommended it to my parents & some others who have suffered with various pains, it has worked wonders for them. My mother swears that it took all of her pains away.
Which oral supplement do you take? & yes it’s crazy how many benefits it has! xo
I order one off of Amazon, brand is Bioschwartz, I believe. Be sure to get one with Bioperene (black pepper).

I just added a teaspoon of turmeric to my smoothie this morning! I’ve had it in tea, and in curries, but I’m not sure what’s the purest / best way to consume to ensure maximum benefit.
Oh yumm! I think a tea or even a supplement would be the best way to consume it! xo
I haven’t tried it yet but some of my friends mix it with a little bit milk and honey for face mask…. maybe 10-20 minutes or so.
Ooh, a DIY! I’ve heard of people mixing it with yogurt too! xo
I add turmeric to tea, smoothies, and roasted veggies multiple times a week it’s got great flavor and not only does it reduce inflammation but also aids in teeth whitening! Love the turmeric gr8nola too but I’ve yet to try any skincare products with it.
