How are you? I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I wrote my first story on CBD. Since then, there has been quite the influx of products and brands out there – don’t you think?  It’s hard to navigate where to start, what to look for, to know what’s pure and… most importantly – which ones work and are worth your time and money.

Since my last story, I’ve learned so much more about CBD so I wanted to give you all a nice little update! Here, I’m showing all of my current favorites I’m into right now and was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with Co-Founder of Lord Jones, Cindy Copobianco herself and am so excited to share it with you!

Q: What exactly is CBD? 

“Cannabidiol”, known as CBD, is one of over a hundred active compounds (or cannabinoids) found exclusively in the cannabis plant.  Lord Jones formulas feature broad-spectrum CBD derived from select strains of local hemp. When ingested or applied topically, CBD promotes a calm sense of well being.

Q: What should one look for when buying a CBD product?

Lord Jones manufactures and distributes the world’s finest CBD products including skincare, handmade confections, and daily supplements. We take transparency very seriously to ensure our consumers know exactly what they are getting. We test our CBD extract throughout the process of manufacturing and ensure that it is free of heavy metals, microbiological matter, residual solvents, and pesticides. Every batch of our CBD extract is lab tested and traceable through our lab batch code via our website.

Q: What is the difference between broad spectrum CBD and CBD isolate?

Lord Jones products feature broad-spectrum CBD that is derived from select strains of hemp grown locally in the United States. Our hemp-derived broad-spectrum CBD retains the plant’s original terpenes and phytocannabinoids as opposed to CBD isolate, which eliminates these elements of the plant.  CBD isolate is a cheaper and more heavily processed powder form of CBD that is derived by stripping away all of the plant’s natural compounds and isolating only the one. CBD isolate is often imported from other countries and can contain heavy metals and other contaminants.

Q: What is the difference between CBD and hemp seed oil? 

There’s a lot of confusion here. CBD is a compound found in the mature hemp plant. Hemp seed oil is found in the seed and contains NO CBD. A detailed primer showcasing the differences between these ingredients can be found below to help your readers navigate this issue:

Q: What is hemp seed oil? 

Hemp seed oil (sometimes referred to as cannabis sativa seed oil) is high in antioxidants, amino acids, and omega-3 and -6 fatty acids, but contains NO CBD.  Cannabis Sativa Oil or hemp seed oil is a product that has been available in health food stores for decades and abundantly present in smoothies and skincare.  CBD is only present in the flower, stem, and leaves of the stalk, not in the seed. So if you’re looking for CBD, avoid products made from hemp seed oil.

Q: What is the difference between CBD and THC?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is the non-euphoric cannabinoid associated with health and wellness. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the plant’s primary psychoactive compound, known for its euphoriant “high” effect. CBD is primarily found within the hemp plant while THC is primarily sourced from the marijuana plant. THC gets you high, CBD does not.”

Q: What’s a good way to integrate CBD products into a beauty routine? Good starting point?

Q: For someone new to CBD, explain how many milligrams they should be starting off with or does it depend on the person?

Everyone’s endocannabinoid system is innately different so the amount of CBD preferred by one person may be different for someone else. For those new to CBD, take the recommended serving size to start (i.e. one full Tincture dropper, one CBD Gumdrop, one Gel Capsule, etc.). Users can increase their serving size where necessary to find their desired sense of calm. For users who are new to ingesting CBD, we recommend starting with our Lord Jones CBD Tincture (each dropper contains 10mg of broad-spectrum CBD) or our Lord Jones Old Fashioned CBD Gumdrops (each gumdrop contains 20mg of broad-spectrum CBD).

I’ve given CBD to so many of my friends, family members, loved ones, and even my uber driver who said she had foot ailments because it’s helped them seriously chill out on their stress, anxiety, pain, and inflammation. The royal oil has even helped my friend’s dogs with its anxiety (always consult with your vet first, of course) hence the reason why I’m such a believer and advocate of CBD. I’ve seen it actually work wonders for myself and everyone around me.
