Paris Couture Week Recap

As many of you know, I was in Paris all last week for Haute Couture Week. This was my 3rd time attending couture week and it was just as magical as the first time. Although I love every fashion week, there is something extremely special about couture season. Perhaps it’s the mere fact that it’s less intense of a schedule and there’s simply more time to actually enjoy the moment. Here is an overall recap of some of the shows I attended and the outfits I wore during couture week. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

KENZO

Although this wasn’t part of Couture week it was the first show I attended literally right off the plane. It was Kenzo’s Fall Winter 2017 show where they showcased both men and women’s looks. It was inspired by a fictional “arctic-surfing-subculture” so it had lots of thick winter sporty silhouettes in bright summery prints and colors. I wore this amazing navy blue Kenzo blazer dress and paired it with my own jeans underneath and of course, my beloved Jimmy Choo shoes.

SCHIAPARELLI

Schiaparelli is absolutely one of my favorite shows during Couture Week. I have such respect and admiration for the House of Schiaparelli and it’s always an honor to attend their shows. I wore this gorgeous Louis Vuitton coat and paired it with a white ruffled blouse. I’ve realized that outerwear is key when dressing for fashion week during the winter! The weather is just too cold, so you have to really have an amazing coat to pull off a great street style look.

VALENTINO FITTING

Visiting my friends at Valentino is always a treat… they are my family at this point and it’s so nice to catch up with everyone; especially my amazing friend Caitlin who is pregnant with her second baby (and working super hard)! Carlos Souza, the Valentino brand ambassador, was also at my fitting to help me pick out my look. I ended up going with this pale pink maxi dress. It was just too gorgeous for words!

MIU MIU

Later that day I stopped by the Miu Miu Pre-Fall 2017 presentation. It was SO good! There were a lot of fifties varsity references with tons of brooches, embellishments, and collars. For a collection with this much detail, I loved being able to see it as a presentation as opposed to a runway show. I was really able to go around and soak everything in!

WOOLMARK PRIZE

I partnered up with Woolmark during couture week to showcase one of the designs of the Woolmark Prize Winner! I’ve been a big fan of Gabriela Hearst so I was thrilled to hear that she was the winner. I ended up choosing this beautiful oversized trench coat to wear because I had never seen anything like it. It was immaculately designed and it was just the perfect outerwear during fashion week.

MAISON MARGIELA

Maison Margiela is another one of those shows I always look forward to attending. But this collection in particular made me emotional. The creativity was just oozing out of each look and you could just feel the emotion behind it all. From the rainbow tongues, to the colorful drawings over the model’s faces, there were a lot of references to filters on social media apps. I left the show in complete awe.

ELIE SAAB

When I think of couture, I think of Elie Saab. It was one of the first shows I was ever invited to during Haute Couture and I will forever remember that moment. This collection was everything I envisioned an Elie Saab couture show to be: high glamor, intricate embellishments and luxe fabrics. I decided to wear a sheer star filled blouse with statement sleeves paired with their retro gold glasses to the show.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

There’s no doubt that Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the most FUN shows to attend during couture! Gaultier also proves that couture can simultaneously be light hearted and fierce at the same time. It was ironic, playful, and all too beautiful! And as always, the details were incredible.

VALENTINO SHOW

And of course… I closed out the season with the always amazing Valentino show. This was Pierpaolo’s first solo Haute Couture show, so there was a lot of anticipation and excitement built up around it. This show stood out to me amongst the others for its purity and simplicity. It felt fresh, young and light. Every tiny detail was executed so gracefully.

Hope you guys enjoyed my quick and short trip to Paris but we’ll be back for Ready-To-Wear in about 3 weeks! Is there anything you guys would like to specifically see during fashion month? Let me know in the comments below!
