Vampy Romance

Not going to lie … I didn’t imagine my first experience at Versailles to be dark, gloomy, and wet. It was definitely not the Versailles I have on my Pinterest board. Nonetheless, it was extremely grand and vast (yet again another 7 am morning shoot) and just picture perfect in the most unexpected way. This pink Elie Saab dress screamed Versailles when I saw it in the showroom, but by all means it was definitely not my intention to make it look like I was having an engagement shoot round two! Although my style has changed so much since my frilly maxi dresses, I’ll always have a special spot in my heart for gowns. But a pretty pink lace dress in Versailles … cliche much? So naturally, I edged it up with a vampy lip, a cropped leather jacket, and my choker. This dark lip (shop it here!) was my go to for fashion week. The color is super long lasting even through the rain. And a good leather jacket (similar here!) is always a staple for me. I’m able to layer it to stay warm but it also instantly adds a sexier vibe to an otherwise girly dress. I love exploring a vampier side to me. And suddenly, what was once working against us totally worked for us … the rain! It wasn’t just sprinkling either, it was hailing and pouring rain. At first, we played with the umbrella, but a few minutes into the shoot, I ditched it and just embraced all that wetness. It was glorious!

So my 3 tips for you today? 1. Juxtapose juxtapose juxtapose. Add leather on top of lace and throw on a dark lip (like this one!) to vamp things up. 2. My delicate choker you guys have been asking me about for the longest time? Was gonna keep it a secret, but here it is … just use your shoelace! It’ll save you some money and it’s a lot more delicate than anyone I’ve seen out there. And 3. life might not be going the way you have planned it to be. It might not look like that Pinterest board of yours, but remember to embrace your current situation … rain or shine. Once you learn how to embrace what you have … magic will happen!
