5 Textures in Your Home

I think a great way to add dimension to anything (whether it’s in your outfit or your home) is to play with textures! So when I finally got around to redecorating my house, I really wanted to incorporate a lot of texture. As you guys know, my house was the house that Allen grew up in, so it really took a lot of work to transform an old house into the space that we live in now! I showed you guys the final home reveal not too long ago, but today I really want to break down the ways in which I transformed a small space into a really modern home that I’m very happy with! Using textures is a really easy way to really give warmth to a room and to make a house into a home. So here are the 5 textures to be mindful of when re-decorating your home!

1. Fur

As you guys know, I love fur (faux of course)! I usually wear it in the Fall, and I love to incorporate it in coats! But fur is an amazing texture to have in your home as well. It’s really soft and gives a really luxurious and cozy vibe! I love my fuzzy custom arm chairs that Laurel & Wolf helped me design!

2. Hardware like Marble/Glass

Putting elements such as marble or glass into your space is a great way to add a sleek element to your home! I love using marble and glass for coffee and side tables, as well as a bookshelf or two! They’re a great strong neutral while still adding a touch of luxury.

3. Nature

If you remember from my hanging house plants post, there’s nothing that brings your space more to life than having a plant! It’s a great way to bring the outdoors in and is a great way to incorporate color too. Although I usually like to have flowers (white roses) in the office, I find that having green plants around my home makes the space feel more organic.

4. Materials

From pillows to throws, using different fabrics and materials are a great way to add texture and color to your home! Layering pillows over a velvet couch adds a cozy and inviting element to your space. Incorporating wicker into your home is a really popular thing right now. It feels organic and homey!

5. Rugs

Last but not least, rugs are my absolute favorite way to add texture! As you guys know I have very dark hardwood floors. And as much as I love the clean wood floors, the color really darkened up the whole room. So for me, the most important thing when planning to redecorate my house was finding the right rug to anchor the room. That’s why I was so happy to have found Loloi Rugs because not only are their rugs uncompromisingly original, but their big sizing made it easy for me to order a rug that could fit over the whole room. Since I have low ceilings, I kind of tricked the space by adding in a white rug and white drapes to open up the space more. When choosing a rug it’s important to find a design that is subtle enough to fit into the aesthetic of the room without overpowering it. Loloi Rugs has tons of options to choose from and the rugs are made by artisans from all around the world! Loloi Rugs are award winning, and when you see and feel them, it’s obvious why. I love that the founder of this company is very hands-on and goes to search for new designs every 6 months to keep their product updated! It’s really goes to show you the integrity in which this product is founded on. These rugs are from the Tanzania collection! You can purchased Loloi’s rugs on sites on HERE and HERE as well as retailers around the nation!

And there you have it, the 5 textures in your home that will immediately bring everything together. Decorating can be stressful, but hopefully breaking down these elements will make things easier for you guys! Let me know if you have any other tips to re-decorating your home in the comments below!
