Whenever I feel like I need to treat my hair, going to a salon and getting a blowout is always my first choice. Since I tend to be really busy, sometimes I just wish the salon would come to me! After getting hair and makeup expertise from my very good friends, I’ve gathered 5 tips to get the very best at-home blowout ever:
1. Hair Mask
Start off with your favorite hair mask pre-shower. Not too long ago, I did a post about my favorite hair masks, and since then I’ve been using them much more often. I can really tell how much softer my hair is! A hair mask by itself is a great way to #treatyourself, but it’s also a great way to prep your hair for a killer blowout. I’ve also really been into multi-purpose hair and skin elixirs like this one.
2. Don’t Use a Towel
Right when you get out of the shower, DO NOT dry your hair with a towel. Repeat after me: I will not dry my hair with a towel. Now say it over and over again until it sticks! Lol. Instead, pick up a microfiber hair towel like this one here. It’s the ultimate way to fight frizz and keep your hair strong and healthy.
3. Heat Protectant
This is a step a lot of people skip, but honestly, it’s one of the most important ones! Applying too much heat to your hair can really damage it. So by using a heat protectant, it adds a protective shield to your hair to keep it healthy! Check out this one here!
4. Blow Dry with a Round Brush
When it finally comes time to blow your hair dry, use a round brush and pull up and out to get the most volume. Disclaimer: the first few times I did this on my own, it was definitely not as easy as my hairdresser makes it look. So just like anything- practice makes perfect! It takes a while to find a good grip for both the brush and the blow dryer. Pro Tip: If you have fine hair, use oil or mouse before you blow dry!
5. Finish with Product
Last but not least, finish off with some product. Once your hair is completely dry add some texture spray or oil to really get your hair bouncy and shiny! Remember, a little bit of product goes a long way and finding a scent that you love will really boost your mood throughout the day.
There you have it! My 5 steps for the perfect at-home blowout! Do you guys have any tips that you swear by? Let me know down in the comments below!

Great post! I definitely need to use heat spray. I always forget.
I will always use oil before, but going to try it out after. I get so lazy about doing my hair haha, but this has inspired me! x

Your hair looks amazing, Chriselle! <3 I've personally never gotten a blowout because I tend to curl my hair in to casual waves, but definitely love this glamorous and relaxed look! 🙂 Thanks for all of the tips!

So gorg!!! I’m always afraid to put oil in my hair, because I think it will make it look greasy, but I think I will give Moroccan Oil a try! Do you use it every time you blowout your hair?
I actually don’t blow dry my hair – since I feel like it makes my skin too dry.
However, I have to in winter since it is too cold to walk outside with wet hair.
Your don’t use a towel tip is something I have never heard of.
Is this because microfibre smooths?

I just got a Brazilian blowout last week. My hair feels amazing! I already do some of these, but some of these I need to incorporate into my hair regime. Thank you! By the way, I love your blouse!
Thanks for the reminder, never using a towel again!
