Transition Your Makeup

So your gorgeous summer tan has set in now…

but what are you supposed to do about all that makeup that’s a shade or two lighter than your skin? You don’t want to buy a bunch of NEW makeup… that could cost a pretty little penny and you don’t want to walk around wearing a shade of foundation that’s too light for you because no one likes a walking ghost head. Major no-no.

So then what’s a girl to do? I’ve got some ideas to help you transition your makeup! Keep scrolling to read what you should do now that summer is in full effect.

Make Your Foundation Work FOR You

So your foundation makes you look a little ghost-like now? Use the lighter shade everywhere that you need some brightness: under your eyes and your cheekbones. Another summer makeup tip that Hannah told me about is that she uses this stuff from St. Tropez mixed with her foundation. It has a super subtle color that helps to slightly darken your foundation just enough to work with your new tan. Plus, its super lightweight and has a pretty shimmer to enhance your foundation.

I also like these Cover Drops from Cover FX! They’re like little pigment drops that can help you adjust your foundation shade accordingly!

Bronze it Up

I feel like everyone looks great with a natural sun kissed look – so bronzer is a perfect next step! Instead of using bronzer to warm up certain parts of your face (or contouring) use it lightly all over to completely warm up your face. It’s buildable and gives you a warm glow. I’m loving this bronzer and this bronzer right now! Also great to add more bronzer on areas that you want to contour your face more (like underneath your cheekbones) to give your face more depth and definition.

Ditch Foundation Altogether

Another option is to just ditch your foundation all together and let your skin breathe! If you still need some coverage, grab a drug store concealer (like one !) that’s not too expensive but still gets the job done. Or, graduate to a tinted moisturizer like this one here! And then use a highlighter like this one or this one to round out that summer glow. To make sure I still get my SPF on during the day, I like to use a primer like this one. It’s great for making my skin smooth and even, and also great for concealing pores and minimizing any redness.
