The summer is the perfect time to refresh your home and treat yourself to a few home indulgences that’ll make each and every day happier and more comforting. Renovations and big-ticket home improvements can cost a lot of money, but here are a few simple ways to elevate your space and bring joy to the home without breaking the bank.
1. Beautiful Bedding
Between work and the kids and taking care of the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., it can be difficult to get the recommended eight hours of sleep a night. So when you do finally make it to your bed, you should treat yourself to quality bedding. Cotton with a high thread count or crisp linen feels wonderful against skin. Quality bedding will cost a little more, but it’s a very small investment that will repay itself in night after night of comfort.
2. Statement Wallpaper
Statement wallpaper, by its nature, works best in small spaces. Refresh a hallway or a powder room wall with an eye-catching print that’ll put a smile on your face each time you pass by. You won’t need to use much in a small space. We love this tip because it’s an affordable refresh that gives your home an entirely new look. You can refresh seasonally with temporary wallpaper or even try wallpapering a ceiling!
3. Nicer Hangers
It’s really the small things in life that make all of the difference. If you have wire hangers in your closet, you’ll know that they can stretch and distort clothes, and they get tangled easily. Plastic hangers are a bit sturdier, but some snap easily and clothing slips off of them. Ditch these options for wooden hangers with grips or velvet hangers. Wooden hangers are very strong, should last a lifetime, and support heavier or bulkier pieces, like sweaters and jackets. Velvet or other non-slip material hangers keep clothes from falling off and are typically really thin, so more clothes can very neatly fit your closet.
4. Warm Towels
Of all the installs and home amendments out there, nothing makes a difference in your home like mounting a heated towel rack in the bathroom. It gives your home a luxury element that doesn’t break the bank the way other home amenities might. Just imagine pressing your face against a soft, warm towel every night before bed and every morning after your shower. What a delightful and comforting way to begin the day!
5. Fresh Florals or Succulents
If you’ve read 5 Tips to Make Your Home Pinterest Worthy or Naturally Chic (Bringing the Outdoors In), you’ll know that one of our go-to tips is to add fresh florals to your home… and for a good reason! Make a trip to your local greenhouse, garden, or nursery and pick out your absolute favorites. Flowers bring fun and a bright pop of color to the home, so they’ll add a sense of style to your space. But they’ll also breathe life and happiness into your daily routine!

I’m with you on bedding and nice hangers! I always wait for Zara sales for the higher count sheets and in the larger supermarkets in Spain you can find some reasonably priced wooden or bamboo hangers. I swear my clothes appreciate them!

Fresh florals and succulents are seriously the way to go!! I wish i could have a whole wall of flowers but well, judging by my lack of green fingers, those flowers might probably just give up on me 🙁

Personally, I’m a fan of indulging in bedding and hangers. The wallpaper one is a new idea to me. I have a weird aversion to it but to only do one wall in a room is a cool way to put it. I found the ceiling example really interesting! 🙂
