The Soundtrack to Antibes

My Summer Travel Wardrobe

The best thing to pack for a summer vacation is dresses. A cute outfit in one piece!

Flats on Repeat

These Derek Lam flats have been my go-to recently. They were super comfy on the plane and the perfect ‘getting lost’ shoes!

Although my trip to Cannes was quite short, we made the most of the few free hours that we had by traveling to a quaint little city outside of Cannes called Antibes. It’s about a 20-minute ride and is very close to Nice, France. Although I wish I had more time to spend in the South of France, I felt that my day trip to Antibes made it all complete.

What I loved most about the city was that it felt very lived-in. It wasn’t overly saturated with tourists and there were plenty of locals going about their day. When I travel for leisure, Allen and I prefer to not have an agenda and explore a city organically. Getting lost in a city is the best way to discover it! Of course, I always do my research to know what areas to avoid, and that’s exactly what I did with Antibes. We got lost, roamed through the small alleys, found adorable shops and made friends with locals. My heart was filled with inspiration after my day in Antibes!

Now let’s talk about my summer travel wardrobe. Especially during the hotter months, the last thing you want to worry about is how you’re going to throw an outfit together. That’s why the majority of the pieces that I bring, with the exception of linen trousers, are dresses. Dresses are no-brainers because all you have to worry about is what shoes and bag to pair it with! It’s a complete outfit without having to worry piecing things together! Because it was a short trip, I brought a total of five dresses and two pairs of pants. I can honestly say I wore all dresses I brought with me. This dress is by a new designer I discovered, Solace London. I’ve been completely obsessed with their pieces. They have a number of great dresses and statement tops that would look perfect with a pair of jeans or with trousers.

I wore this dress once to an event with a pair of strappy heels, but I loved being able to make it more resort-ish by pairing it with the Derek Lam flats that I’ve been wearing on repeat and a cute straw hat. I love that the front looks like a dress but from the back, it looks like a bandeau top and a-line skirt. Not to mention, this dress is a good weight (in the best way possible) because of the quality of the fabric.

Something about strolling down the cute streets of Antibes listening to someone playing romantic French music as I was twirling in this amazing dress … definitely felt like I was living a scene from my favorite French film! If there’s one place I would want to go back and spend time with my family, it would be Antibes. I’ll be back!

PS: I also found and added, in the widget below, a few day dresses that would make the perfect summer vacation dress. And a few that I’m completely swooning over (especially the first lace one below that I just ordered!) Happy Shopping!
