A Breezy & Effortless Summer Day

This past weekend I rented a beach house in Malibu for Allen’s birthday and Mother’s Day weekend. As most of you know by now Allen and I absolutely LOVE staycationing (read why HERE), and this weekend was no different. Luckily the house was conveniently located right on the sand and walking distance to NOBU and all the yummy restaurants, so we literally did not have to leave the house nor get in a car (which  is a game changer when traveling with a baby). Happiness to me means sand between my toes and watching Chloe and Allen play in the water all day. It also means breaking away from the pantsuit look and bringing out the more loose fitting shorts and tunic tops. I love these striped shorts from Ann Taylor because they remind me of comfy lounge shorts, which makes them perfect for the beach. I’m pairing these shorts with a loose fitted white blouse and hat for that effortless beach-day look.

Every season I have a staple white piece that I shamelessly repeat week after week. For fall, it was my white jumpsuit and for winter, it was my white coat, and for this season? My loose fitted bell-sleeved white blouse (similar here!). Not to mention, the tassels are everything. I’m sure you guys have noticed but I’ve become quite minimal when it comes to jewelry ever since having Chloe, but the one accessory that I NEVER leave the house without (when in the sun) is a good ole’ hat. For the obvious reason wearing a hat is the best protection for your skin. Although I have tons of hats, I find it quite difficult to find that “perfect” one. This hat that I’m wearing seems to be perfectly oversized and perfectly firm without being too floppy.

I’m having major withdrawals from this weekend, but I have some really exciting news that I will be able to share with you in a few days. I’m headed somewhere that I’ve never been … and it’s a total dream come true! Stay tuned!
