Wearable Art

Theres something about an artfully crafted piece of clothing that makes my heart flutter. I mean, I’ve always believed that a beautiful dress can elicit a special and cool confidence when worn so you guys can imagine my delight when I found this quirky graphic printed summer dress on the Lord & Taylor. When I think of Sachin and Babi I usually think of cocktail and event dresses, but this is such a great every day piece with a special twist. I usually stick with classic elements for my clothing (like a simple white button-up!), but once in a while I like to throw in a piece with unique and special details. The design element of the bird print, perforated panels, and suspenders adds a subtle color and interest to the overall muted black and white tones. While the color block and body forgiving silhouette makes it easy to wear. You know me.. I’m all about the details! A reader left a comment last week about what I look for when I’m shopping, and I basically look for fun details that makes a piece look cool and expensive, such as this dress!

Initially I wore sneakers and flats just out of convenience when I was pregnant with Chloe, but I find that even post partum I hardly wear heels anymore. There’s just something very cool and sleek about white sneakers (if you remember my team’s white sneaker instagram photo hah), not to mention they just go with everything. So of course, I had to paired this dress with my favorite go-to shoe, my white oxfords. It’s clean and subtle so it doesn’t take away from the dress but adds an easy going and effortless vibe. The unexpected details and pairings are what makes an outfit stand out. So next time you’re getting dressed, think about a different way of pairing your pieces for the most interesting combinations!
