A Tale of Two Cities

Photography by Karen Rosalie

As you guys may have heard from my snapchat (@chrisellelim).. I finally had a chance to visit my DTLA office! I haven’t been there since the last month of my pregnancy, and I have to say I was SO happy to see the LA skyline!  DTLA has such a cool urban and developing feel to it, it definitely represents the cool and elusive city of dreams for me. Downtown has been my “home” for the past 6 years until I got married to Allen, and he convinced me to leave my cool bachelor(ette) pad to a quiet suburbia neighbors in Manhattan Beach. Occasionally I ask myself, “Why did I do that?”… haha i’m just kidding guys!

And maybe I was channeling the cool downtown girl in me as I got dressed that morning.. Because as much as I love feminine soft outfits, the urban LA girl in me loves outfits with a casual cool edge. As it has been incredibly hot in LA, I decided to wear my favorite boyfriend denim shorts, and pair it with this feminine IRO embroidered Mesh Insert Silk Blouse . Since denim shorts & a sheer tank is a bit too casual for my liking, I finished the look off with this black & white L’AGENCE Checker Jacket. This boxy collarless jacket adds a touch of modern sophistication to a more casual look.

I was so shocked to see how much has changed around our office in just a few short months! Like for example .. this amazing mural! I loved how there are elements of LA suburbia and beach mixed with city roads. I know art can be interpreted in many ways .. but I definitely took this mural as a visual representation of my current straddling of both Manhattan Beach & DTLA. I’m back in town and couldn’t be any happier!

Happy Friday everyone!
