This outfit reminded me of one of my favorite shows, Gossip Girl! We were actually around Uptown Manhattan when we shot this, which is where the show was filmed! I love how preppy this look is! This is actually a dress layered over the amazing ‘backward’ top which you might remember from my Eyes Forward Shirt Backwards post! That’s what happens when you change in a car- you really have to get creative! The collar peaking over the neck of the dress is the perfect little preppy touch. You really have to get creative with versatile pieces! That’s why I always tell you guys, invest in that statement piece but really focus on having the staple closet pieces, like this white button up! Although this outfit is a bit more girly than my usual menswear inspired looks, it worked so well as I was walking around Uptown channeling my inner Blair in this preppy outfit!
If you follow me on snapchat (@chrisellelim) you’d know what I had my hair tied back for most of New York Fashion Week because of the humidity! Aside from the fact that I have really coarse hair & it would have gotten so frizzy if I didn’t tie it back . . . I tie my hair back now because I’ve just learned to embrace my forehead .. aka five-head! When I was a kid, I was teased about it a lot so its kind of been embedded in my head that my forehead wasn’t an attractive feature. Even though I’ve grown up, I’m still trying to embrace my imperfections. Now that I have Chloe, and she’s inherited my big forehead, I hope that I can teach her to really love herself. I want her to love every single perfection and imperfection, because when I look at her she’s perfect to me. Although I know she’s going to grow up and go through things herself, I want to continuously remind myself that the only way I could teach her to love herself is to love myself first. And if that means tying my hair back and embracing my forehead, then I will!
What are some things you guys are insecure about? Share with me in the comments! Remember ..You can be wearing the most amazing outfit in the world, but confidence is is the most beautiful accessory you can wear. Happy Monday!

Trends I'm Loving Right Now
While I'm always hopping from trend to trend there are three in particular that has totally captured my heart (and closet) this season.
I use to be really uncomfortable about my forehead too and would always have my hair on an extreme side bang but I am so happy that I got over that and honestly it feels good to free the forehead haha. You are stunning and I don’t see anything wrong with your forehead.
PS. Your daughter is SOOOOO cute omg

Wow never knew some1 like you actually have insecurities, your perfect.. I’m insecure about my big size 10.5 feet. That’s huge for a Asian girl. Would like to have your normal sized feet. Lol

I think that you have a normal forhead! 🙂 But we women are always insecure about some feature of our body! For example, I’m insecure of my nose, I think it’s too big for my face! When I was younger I was also insecure about my tits, but now I am happy about them because I can wear anything without worrying, and plus they’ re more confortable. :p Kisses to you and your newborn child!
thanks Gea! xx Chriselle
Cute outfit. You definitely do not have a big forehead. You’re beautiful and so is your baby girl. 🙂

Me too, I have a broad forehead. But hey, it is my forehead and I gotta love what I have because that makes me whole.

Exactly! You’re perfect the way you are! xx Chriselle
Love these pictures! And truth be told, I only see exquisite grace and beauty when I look at your features and I feel encourage by this post to be more accepting of my own flaws and apparent shortcomings. Also, ideals of beauty have changed and shifted so many times through the ages (and continue to do so). During the Renaissance, a high forehead was considered the very pinnacle of beauty.
Thank you for another inspiring post!
Hi Rebecca! You don’t know how much that means to me! xx Chriselle
Chriselle, you are pretty head to toe. If we are to criticise ourselves, we should look more deeply at our actions and intentions to be a better version tomorrow. It’s almost painful to watch snaps of you with your team who don’t appear to enjoy your company. Of course, this is all in comparison to other equally “high-profile” fashion bloggers and their teams. They seem to be annoyed by you, or not enjoying their roles. Or are they simply very shy in front of the camera? Do you have concerns about how they feel about working with you?
You look gorgeous! No need to feel self conscious about your appearance. I love how thoughtful you are. Chloe is a lucky girl.

I’m 19 years old and have symptoms for PCOS. This disease has caused my skin to be far from perfect, and my hormones to be really off. I’ve learned that I have beautiful features, and that not having the “perfect” skin is not necessarily a bad thing. I have a loving boyfriend who accepts all my imperfections, and he has really helped me realize that my skin imperfections shape who I am, and actually help me connect and be non judgemental towards other people with similar problems 🙂
Hi Monica! Thank you for sharing your story! And I want you to remember that you really are beautiful inside and out! xx Chriselle
Loving this outfit so much! And yes, Gossip Girl was one of my all-time favorite shows too 🙂
And aww I know what you mean, Chriselle 🙁 I used to worry/be self-conscious about my forehead too, which was why I’ve always had bangs to cover my forehead. But over the past two years, I’ve grown out my fringe, and now I bravely show my forehead too 🙂
We just have to be confident and accept that we all have imperfections, but that’s what makes us beautiful! <3

How lovely Chriselle! You are seriously one of my style inspirations and I would never have guessed that you were insecure with your forehead! You still look beautiful to me, hair tied back or not. Also, this is indeed a very good way to teach Chloe important life lessons in the future. Thumbs up to you!

I love this outfit and I definitely thought of Gossip Girl when I first glanced at these pictures. I love that you’re dedicated to having Chloe grow up with a positive body image. I love even more that you are sharing this on your blog because I think it’s an attitude that many of us should adopt.

Still trying to accept my thick, no-gap thighs which are really the only things I’d ever want to change in my body.
I’m pear shaped with a lovely slim waist and a long, slim neck. That’s supposed to compensate but still…
I’ll learn I’m sure, I’ll force myself to.
p.s. I don’t see ANYTHING wrong with your forehead Chriselle, lol.

Hi Barbara! You are beautiful just the way you are. xx Chriselle
That’s so great that having Chloe has changed your perspective and helped you embrace your imperfections. I akso happen to have quite a big forehead, but I’ve accepted the fact that it’s a part of me, and was able to make piece with that. Btw, you look gorgeous with your hair back, it creates a beautiful, sophisticated look! <3

Hi Alina! that’s so sweet of you to say! thank you so much! xx Chriselle
This outfit may have been inspired by Gossip Girl, but to me it gives away some Japanese school-girl vibes. Needless to say, this self-proclaimed manga addict loves this outfit. ^^ To answer your question, there are few things I was really insecure about in the past including my nose and my thumbs. Although I cannot claim to have shed those insecurities completely off, I’ve started embracing them when I realized that physical flaws are either self-fabricated or fabricated by others. I realized that you have to love yourself and be confident with what you have. You have one life and you should not spend it obsessing over things you have no control over.
Hi Dilek! That’s a wonderful way to think about it! You’re beautiful inside and out! xx Chriselle
You girl… You’re everything but imperfect!! You also inspire me on every single level, as a woman, as a mom and as a blogger!!

A wise word from my Mother to me growing up I used to think of my high forehead is something I don’t like, and it’s seriously got teased in school, she said in our culture it is thought of as the sign of intelligent and a great thinker of people with big forehead, it’s a sign born into quickness and confident (at the same time stubbornness) but people with stubborn are usually the people who dares to do things out of their box and always striving hard to achieve happiness in life and never gives up . . . To this day, I always thought of the true words my Mother had said . . . Yes, Embrace our flaws and celebrate our achievements through life! 🙂

I never thought you were so insecure about your forehead. And I think that exactly is the key — the moment you accept your flaws and become confident about it, no one will ever notice it is amiss/ unseemly. I love the shot of confidence posts that you’ve been recently open about in this blog and am looking forward to reading more.
