7 Foods for Your Skin

As you guys know, I’m obsessed with skincare. I’m always looking for new ways to enrich my skin .. Aside from doing DIY face masks or using some of my favorite Korean beauty products, food is also a great and organic way to nourish your skin! Believe it or not, your kitchen is a great place to find products for skin care. (I mean .. if it’s good for your body, it’s good for your skin right?) And I think it’s always good to mix up your skin routine sometimes just to introduce something new to your skin. So today I’ll be sharing with you 7 foods for your skin!

1. Apple Cider Vinegar as Toner

Toner is great for evening out your skin!

If you can get past the smell, try using apple cider vinegar as a toner! (You guys might remember that tip from my Skincare Routine video.) Just mix equal parts of the apple cider vinegar and water, then put a little bit on a cotton ball and apply it all over your skin after washing your face! A toner is great to reduce oiliness, tightens pores, and helps with breakouts. When my sister Jane was working with me, we even used to force ourselves to take apple cider vinegar “shots” to help with our digestive system!

2. Aspirin Mask

Aspirin Masks are my secret weapons. All you have to do is crush up some un-coated aspirin and mix with a bit of water to form a paste. It’s a great spot treatment for pimples and it’s great to calm redness. Just apply the mask over your face and leave on until it dries, then rinse with warm water! I tend to get redness around my nose and cheeks sometimes, so this is an easy way to tone down redness sometimes!

3. Oatmeal Face Scrub

But be careful as this gets so messy ..

So for this scrub, take 1 tablespoon of oatmeal and 3 tablespoons of water, and wait about ten minutes for the oats to become soft, then gently rub and massage to clean your face and exfoliate your skin! Make sure to avoid your eyes, and then rinse with warm water! While oatmeal is a great way to soften and exfoliate your skin, it can also dry out your skin. So make sure you hydrate with oils after!

4. Walnut Oil

If you read my post about my Monday – Friday oils you know how much I rely on oils for my skin care, and walnut oil is my newest addition. This oil has anti aging properties .. which is perfect because I feel like I’m starting to get lines around my eyes. It’s never too early to start using preventive measures! I just dab a little of this oil around the corner of my eyes every night before I sleep. Walnut oil is also high in potassium so it also promote hair growth! This is definitely a great oil for post-partum women as hair loss can affect a lot of women after pregnancy.

5. Coffee Grounds as an Exfoliant

This is one of my favorite tips, because you can exfoliate and drink a cup of coffee at the same time! After you brew your cup, wait for the grounds to cool and then rub the grounds gently over your face (and body if you want to!) and rinse with warm water. This is also great for people who are quitting coffee and still want to get their daily dose in hah.

6. Brown sugar as a body scrub

As you guys might remember .. DIY spa days at home are the perfect way to pamper yourself on a budget. Whenever I get around to making scrubs for myself, I love using brown sugar! All you have to do is mix brown sugar, and a bit of olive oil in a small container! Then rub it gently all over your body and rinse off with warm water! It leaves your skin super soft, and it smells great!

7. Honey Mask

Honey is a great and organic way to incorporate into your beauty routine!

Honey is amazing for your skin. From acne, to dark spots, you can pretty much use honey for everything! I love using honey on my face, specifically Manuka honey. Pay special attention to the labels on the bottle, it shows the strength- I use the 16. Apply a layer of the honey on your skin and let it rest for about 30 minutes then wash off with warm water! I try and do this mask once a week. I also talk about more DIY honey masks here!

And there are my seven favorite foods for your skin! Let me know if you try any of them!
