7 Bath Essentials for a DIY Spa

You all know I love a good pampering session when it comes to my skin. & there’s nothing better than an all body skin treatment like a bath. I mean why not, treat yourself right? Especially since life can get so chaotic sometimes, it’s really important to take time out to decompress and unwind. There’s something very luxurious and relaxing about taking baths. Since I haven’t had time to really do a spa day, I try to pamper myself at home now! Beyond the relaxation part, there are also proven health benefits to taking baths. The hot/warm water is known to induce a sweat which helps remove toxins, and also the heat of the water kills bacteria decreasing the number of cold you may get during the year. It also promotes blood circulation and on top of that it improves your immune system to help fight infections & colds. So today I’ll be sharing with you my 7 bathing essential that I use to create a relaxing at home spa experience!

1. Bath Bombs

I recently starting using this, but now bath bombs are an absolute must! It makes bathing so much fun and there’s nothing quite like watching a bath bomb dissolve into the water in a mess of colors. It’s such an easy way to create a beautiful aroma and relaxing mood. My favorite bath bomb is anything rose scented. I just love the smell and the soothing properties of roses, plus how pretty are these bath bombs?

2. Candles

Candles really add a relaxing and romantic mood. I love using them for the home or for my office as they really liven up the space and feels homier. I usually love fresh scents like lavender, linen, and sandalwood. These scents are great because they are fairly neutral and reminds me of what going to a spa would be like!

Candles: Diptyque

3. Books or Magazines

Whether I am in a bath or not, I love to read through books and magazines whenever I have down time. As a creative it’s hard to get inspiration all the time, so seeing what other people are doing helps to give me a new perspective. Not going to lie though, it’s been SO hard to find time to sit and read. So I use bathing time also as a way to catch up on my reading! Baths are just a great time to quiet your mind and relax from the craziness!

4. Scents

Scents are so important in creating a relaxing environment. I love adding scents through essential oils or candles or even flowers like lavender! I don’t know about you guys, but for me, certain scents can immediately relax me or make me feel happy. Like the smell of Allen’s cologne, or Chloe after she’s had her own bath! Try using oils also because hot water combined with essential oils can create a spa-like treatment and can ease symptoms of physical ailments (like my shoulder). Different oils have properties and benefits. Taking baths with oils are so great since it is so customizable  and you can choose certain ones or combinations to suit your needs!

5. Bath Soaks

You may have heard of Cleopatra who was know to be very beautiful with amazing skin. This Laura Mercier soak is inspired by stories of Cleopatra being soaked in milk and honey. Bathing in milk and honey is a fantastic way to get soft supple skin! The lactic acid in milk is very exfoliating, and honey is softening, moisturizing, and all-around beautifying. Honey and coconut are two of my favorite ingredients for beauty as they’re very natural and completely moisturizing for the skin! (See here for the DIY honey masks I do also!)

6. Rose Petals

I know, I’m just obsessed with roses. Roses for my office, for my home, and definitely for my baths. It’s just that roses are so classic and beautiful, seeing them just brightens my day! But aside from personal preference, the natural oils found in roses can help retain moisture in the skin. This results in your skin feeling smooth and soft. And did you guys know the rose scent is actually found to help with anxiety and nervous tension, which is perfect to use when in stressful situations. It’s quite versatile as well since it restores even the most sensitive skin!

7. Bath Salts

If you want to feel like you just left a full-body massage, try soaking your body in some salts, specifically epson salts. When you soak in epson salts, your body absorbs the magnesium. The magnesium is amazing for helping with aching muscles, regulating blood pressure and healing for the skin. I’ve constantly struggled with back and shoulder pain and now especially since Chloe is getting so heavy! Soaking in the salt is both therapeutic and feels luxurious, all in your own home!

And there you have it, my 7 top bath essentials to make you feel rejuvenated and beautiful. Let me know what your favorite products and bath essentials are below. I would love to add them to my routine!
