My 2020 Roadmap

Happy New Year!

Can you believe it’s officially 2020? It feels so weird to say that.

I’m extremely excited about this year because I’ll be real with you guys- 2019 was not my best. It was filled with tough decisions, personal struggles, a shit ton of growth and a lot of self doubt both personally and professionally. Though it was hard to go through, I know now that the struggles were necessary for me to be where I am now- confident and ready for the new year and the new decade!

As you guys know, some years I’ve had New Year’s Goals. Other years, I’ve had New Year’s Anti-Resolutions but everything I’ve been through this past year has taught me that it’s less about a step-by-step thing and more about constantly focusing on the big picture. Figuring out where you want to go and where you want to be- and just go along for the ride.

Another thing that I’ve been preaching about is how I want to FEEL as opposed to what I want to SEE. How I feel will determine what I see along the way.

With that said, this year I want to integrate my worlds better. For me, that means my personal life and my business life. As the girls are getting older, it’s so important to me that I can be as present as possible for them. I know it will make us all happier and fulfilled in the long-run and that’s where I’m focusing a lot of my energy on.

There are several ways I’m working on that already:

Make the Hard Decisions

You heard it here first. After a very long discussion, we’ve decided to move the office closer to my house. I’m going to really miss the office in Chinatown as we custom built it and put so much work and love into it. However, knowing that I need to give my all to both my family and work- it was a decision I had to make.

If You Can’t Find the Solution, Create It

I’m currently building out BUMO, which I haven’t talked too much about on the blog- but it’s actually something that was inspired by the working mom dilemma. BUMO will allow parents to be co-located with their children to maximize their time together, but also maximize their work and career. Our first location is opening up Spring 2020!

Forget Work/Life Balance

The one thing I’ve learned after having Colette is that there’s no such thing as work/life balance. If you give your all to one thing, the other will suffer and vise vera. With that said…

Be Smarter With Your Time

Work smarter not harder! Don’t judge me if I’m in my PJ’s all day on my laptop. You’ve got to make the best use of the time that you’re given and sometimes that means being in your cozy outfit all day!

Ask For Help

You can’t do it alone; especially if you’re juggling multiple things. I’m now a mom of two AND running multiple companies… people ask me how I do it all and I tell them that I’m not doing it alone! I have some amazing people on my side that back me up and support me. I wouldn’t be able to do a fraction of the things I am able to do now without them.

Investing time and money into a support system is the best thing I could have ever done.
