I truly believe that if you look good you feel good, and if you feel good you look good. One of the best ways to achieve that is with fitness. Just like the choices you make in fashion, fitness choices can be interpreted to fit your life and your body. You have to do what works best for you, your schedule and your lifestyle. My fitness journey has been just that; a journey. My relationship with working out is ever evolving but within the last couple of years, I’ve really been able to streamline my fitness focus and find what works best for me.
So! To start off 2018 with your best healthy foot forward, here are 6 fitness habits I recommend for you to adopt in 2018! So keep scrolling to discover my current fitness habits and my 3 go-to workout looks I can’t stop wearing!
1. Invest in New Fitness Looks
As I’m sure you guys have noticed, I pretty much wear the same workout clothes over and over again! The reason being: I love how that outfit makes me feel! It’s kind of like that feeling you get when you put on your favorite pair of jeans. You just always know which ones are going to be there for you, make you look good and make you sweat a little harder.
For me, high waisted work-out leggings are my go-to’s because they make me suck in my stomach and engage my core while I’m working out, plus they’re super flattering! For sports bras, I always look for the ones that offer more coverage. Fitted tank-top looking sports bras like the ones I’m wearing in this post (check out this one here) are my favorite! They’re a bit more modest than your typical sports bra. They’re more modest than your typical sports bra.
Another thing that’s worth the investment are good workout shoes. For the last few years, I’ve been using the SAME workout sneakers, but just recently I got around to purchasing a few more that I’m so obsessed with that I’ll even catch myself wearing them outside the gym!
Sports Bra: Beyond Yoga x Kate Spade | Leggings: Beyond Yoga x Kate Spade | Sneakers: Nike
2. Have Fun
Okay, I know, easier said than done but I’ve realized that finding a workout class/type of workout that you actually enjoy makes it all so much easier! The biggest thing I’ve learned is that you don’t HAVE to go to the gym to work out.
I’ve come to realize that I’m more motivated when I’m with a group of people- so workout classes are totally my jam. Maybe it’s my competitiveness coming out, but I’ve found that working out with people really motivates me to work my hardest!
Sports Bra: Splits 59 | Leggings: MICHI | Sneakers: New Balance | Gym Bag: Stella McCartney x Adidas
3. Just Get Moving
As I said before, my fitness journey has been a long and winding road. I spent so much time in the past trying to find my ‘go-to’ workout, but it kept on changing and that’s OK. It took me a while to realize that that’s normal. Maybe one day I do an Orange Theory class, or maybe I don’t even make it out of the house and just do a 15-minute workout video off of YouTube on my yoga mat! I used to be so hard on myself if I missed a day at the gym. I was so hard on myself that it would discourage me for the rest of the week which was not a good way to go about working out at all. So this year – I challenge you to be flexible!
Currently, I’m loving my Orange Theory workout classes, mixed with some pilates and yoga classes, and running outside! Sometimes I’ll stick Chloe in her stroller and run to the park with her!
4. Work Out Topless
Okay, not totally topless, but when I workout, I just wear my sports bra. I know it’s not ideal for everyone and not everyone would feel 100% comfortable, but I find it extremely motivating! It reminds me to keep my stomach tight, which in turn engages my core, plus it’s a great reminder to keep my shoulders back and my posture perfect!
5. Mark Your Workouts in Your Calendar
This all comes down to making time to work out. For me personally, I find that marking my workouts, either at home or classes, in my calendar helps to keep me accountable. If I schedule a class, I’m 100% more likely to get it done! Not to mention if you pay for a workout class, it’s best not to miss it!
Jacket: New Balance | Sports Bra: Outdoor Voices | Leggings: Outdoor Voices | Sneakers: APL
6. Find a Partner
However you prefer to work out – either with a trainer, your BFF or even your S.O., having a workout buddy to keep you accountable makes all the difference. I don’t work out with a trainer, but I’ve become friends with some of the girls in my Orange Theory class- so we always make sure to keep each other accountable. Because… let’s be honest: you’re a lot more likely to wake up for a workout if someone’s waiting for you. If you’re going by yourself- hitting that snooze button gets a little too easy.
My goal this year is to move as much as possible, in any way I can! Do you guys have any fitness goals this year? Let me know in the comments below and have a great weekend! Remember- there’s no time like now. 😉

I will agree that one’s outfit can really drive motivation!
A fitness goal of mine this year is to be able to a headstand during yoga and overall, to be stronger. Most importantly, I think you nailed it in your 2018 Intentions post about having a healthy relationship with your mind, body, and soul. That is my intention this year!
Great tips! I definitely agree with #2. 🙂

I’m definitely trying to be active at least 3 times a week. I feel like that’s an easy enough number to start off with and maintain. Eventually, I want to be active at least 5 times per week but I want to start off small. For me, the hardest part is getting started. Because I actually do enjoy working out and the feeling it leaves me with afterward. That going topless part though, XDD I don’t think I can try that just yet.
Lovely you got to keep moving you feel better

Love the tips. I always am more motivated to workout when I am wearing an outfit I love. I also always write down my workout schedule in my calendar because it holds me accountable to actually go.

I’ve actually never considered going “topless” at the gym and now I feel like I definitely need to try it! What a great idea!! You’re totally right, it would remind me to keep my core tight. I’m gong to try it when I hit the gym later today!
Happy New Year beauty!

Great post! I’m the same way when it comes to working out in groups. My inner competitiveness comes out, making me work harder. So what exactly is Orange theory? I’ve heard a lot of people mentioning it but I have no clue what it is.

I think it is better to mix up one’s workouts so you are not doing the same thing day after day. When doing the same exercise routine every day your muscles get used to it. It is better to do different things as you say you are doing. I love all your outfits but my favorite is the Splits 59 black sports bra with the MICHI leggings.
I really am trying to do better with my working out. Thanks for the tips. and i love your outfits!!!!!!!
I always struggle to get myself motivated to workout! Love these looks!

I do like your post! Your photos are great. Personally, I will workout 3 times/week in 2018! On of my goals is to take care of me and do what I love.
All my love,

Oh, in love with the last workout outfit! I concur about the scheduling. When I had an unsettled calendar and left the gym to whenever I had free time, I found I never had free time. Only when it was officially penciled in, did I actually make it a definitive point to go.
