The Best Spot Treatments to Zap Zits

My skin and I have gone through many ups and downs.

From middle-school and highschool where it felt like I had a new pimple every other day… to college where my skin had a rough transition from the heat and humidity of south Texas to the dryness and pollution of Los Angeles.

I’ve picked and poked, tried every home remedy in the book (toothpaste, tea-tree oil, straight up prayers) but even though I’ve gotten my skin more under control than it’s ever been (shout out to my minimal skincare routine) I still get the occasional little friend popping up on my chin during that time of the month. I also sometimes get one around the bridge of my nose when I wear sunglasses I haven’t worn in a while, which is weird but always a nice reminder to clean my sunglasses.

So, when I do have an unwanted visitor on my face, I reach for my spot treatments. These are my picks for the best spot treatments to zap zits:

COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch

Dear COSRX Pimple Patches, I love you. I’ve been using these patches for years and they’re the first things I reach for when I’ve got a pimple. The little patches (they come in different sizes depending on how big your zit is) suck out ALL the gunk from your pimple overnight. It’s one of those ‘weirdly satisfying’ moments when you wake up the next morning and see the cloudy pimple patch. I’ll usually put one on right before I put on my moisturizer to make sure it stays put. My pimples always look noticeably flatter and less irritated the next day!

When I went back to Texas in August, my skin decided that it hated me and I had a massive breakout all over my chin. I always travel with a set of the COSRX pimple patches in my toiletries bag, but I forgot to reload it for this trip! And since I hadn’t been breaking out, I didn’t pack any of my other spot treatments. So, I picked up the Nix It Complexion Solution from Versed one day at Target (it was only $12.99!) to help my breakouts. I already love the Clarifying Serum, so I knew I was in for good things with Nix It. After just one application overnight, my pimples were so much less swollen and red! BLESS.

EradiKate Salicylic Acid Overnight Acne Treatment Lotion

I love Kate Somerville products, and their EradiKate line is amazing (I got my brother into using the EradiKate Daily Cleanser!) if you suffer from acne or occasional breakouts. I use this treatment lotion when my skin gets *really* bad, which – thankfully, hasn’t happened in a while. It uses salicylic acid as well as retinol to get rid of your blemishes. (PS: since this product does have retinol, only use it at night and ALWAYS wear sunscreen because it makes your skin sensitive to the sun!) It’s a good size so you get a lot of product for your money, and it works great all over your skin AND as a spot treatment!

I’m so sad to say that I can’t find the Dr Dennis Gross All-Over Acne solution ANYWHERE online besides some listings on Amazon that look slightly sketchy. It was definitely up there with my favorite spot-treatments, which is why I included it in this post! Sadly, I didn’t realize it wasn’t available until AFTER we shot this, so I found a treatment that seems similar. I haven’t personally tried it, but I trust the brand and wanted to share some another pimple spot-treatment!

Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum

I really love Caudalie products and this serum has actually been on my wishlist for a while now! Both Chriselle and Jane love the Vinopure Toner so I have a feeling the Vinopure Serum will be just as amazing. It’s made with 100 percent natural salicylic acid which helps control oil, reduce blemishes, and clean out pores. One product that I have tried from Caudalie to help with my breakouts is this Instant Detox Mask, I use it once a week and can’t say enough good things about it!
