Today is National Boss Day so…happy boss day to all the bosses, aspiring-to-be-a-bosses, bosses-at-life, bosses-at-home, all over life bosses out there!
Instead of talking about all the do’s and dont’s of being a “good boss,” we thought it would be nice to talk about what boss moves you should put into immediate action (if you haven’t already) – no matter what stage of life you’re in right now.
Friendly reminder: we have 2.5 months left in this decade…it’s time to put our best boss moves forward with efficiency and grace to achieve all the goals we promised ourselves we would make in January.
Email Etiquette
We don’t know about you, but we love people that are on top of their inboxes. We don’t like to let an email go more than 2 days without answering it. Even if your answer is “I don’t have an answer for you right now,” people appreciate the response and quite frankly, everyone deserves a reply. Ghosting is not okay.
Professionalism
While having friends at work is nice, don’t forget that we’re here to work. Sure, it’s great to have a lunch buddy and someone to talk to – but remember that work is work. Make sure you’re on top of everything before you start sending those GIFs or emails re: happy hour.
Stay on top of Current Events
While it’s 100% important to stay on top of what’s going on at work and home, it’s also important to know what’s happening around you and in the world. Participate and contribute to society.
Be Open-Minded
We can’t stress this one enough. It’s great to have strong opinions and ideas, but it’s also very important to keep an open mind with work, friends, colleagues, etc. Stay open and try to see all sides of the story to see where each other’s views are coming from.
Support Each Other
Whether that’s sharing someone else’s successes within your network, your Instastories, reaching out to congratulate them, supporting their new launches, etc. – give support and get support back. Amazing things happen when we all support each other and lift each other up.
Be In Control of Your Finances
Financial freedom is empowering. Now, we can’t say we all have this 100% figured out yet, but we’re all trying our best to get there. It’s important to be in control of your finances. Don’t live outside of your means and make sure you budget. If you haven’t read this one already, check out the Basic Budgeting Tips from President of CINC, Lauren Barlow here!
Be a Goal Digger
Make daily, weekly, 1 year, 3-year and 5-year goals that you want to achieve. Write it down and work towards that every day.
Don’t Participate in Hallway Talk
Office gossip is just office…gossip. If something’s bothering you, speak to the person directly once you’ve calmed down and nip it in the bud.
Focus on the Big Picture
It’s easy to get consumed by the usual day to day things you have going on and stressors of everyday life, but make sure you keep your eyes on the prize and know that you’re working towards something bigger. Refocusing your priorities helps you remember what it’s all about.
Have a Routine
Is it waking up early to go to the gym and get your 10,000 steps in? Is it taking time to meditate and focus on your intentions for the day? Is it meal prepping your lunches so you have more time in the day to focus on what needs to be done and create? Whatever it is – think about what kind of routine can help your day to day flow easier and effectively.
Challenge Yourself
We’ve all heard this before but – if it doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough. Make sure you’re checking in with yourself to make sure pushing yourself – not just within work, but within all areas of your life.
Stay Educated
We all know this one but it’s important that we exercise our minds as well. Whatever credible sites, newspapers, authors, books you are intrigued by that challenge you – make sure to keep up with them. Do your research and keep evolving.

Surround Yourself With People Who are Smarter Than You
It’s the best way to keep learning and growing.
Health is Wealth
Make sure you check in on yourself mentally and physically. Take care of yourself. Don’t work too hard that you get burnt out, sick or even worse – hurt. What good is grinding and hustling 24/7 when you don’t take time to enjoy it? Sometimes doing nothing is also a form of self-care that we should all really practice a bit more.
So, how will you be celebrating Boss Day today? Any boss tips you want to share with us? Let us know in the comments, below and don’t forget to send your boss a note today. 😉
xx
