Mommy and Me Holiday Traditions

Happy first day of the 3rd annual 12 Days of Chriselle!

We’re so happy to be bringing this series back for you again this year. There are some amazing sponsors and even more amazing giveaways coming to you over the next 12 Days (so make sure you don’t miss a single day).

This year, we decided to shake things up and do things a little differently… instead of ONE massive giveaway at the end of the 12 days of CHRISelle, we’ve created 12 extremely meaningful stories with some surprise giveaways along the way! That means MORE winners and more chances to win something truly special! You’ll just have to make sure you check back every day to see what’s happening!

So be sure to check back each day of the 12 Days of Chriselle (Dec 1st -12th) for a chance to win!

The holidays have become more and more meaningful as Chloe has gotten older. She really understands what the holidays are about and, to my surprise, she even remembers what we did for the holidays last year which means the world to me because I’ve been trying my hardest to put an emphasis on traditions since Chloe was born. So to know that she remembers some of the fun things we did last year and has been asking to do them again makes me so incredibly happy!

Last year, we had a full on mommy and me day. We painted our nails, baked cookies for Santa, and decorated the tree together! When she came home to see the Christmas tree a week or so ago, she got SO excited that Christmastime was here. One of Chloe’s favorite things to do with me is to get ready and paint her nails. I rarely let her do it, so when I do, she knows it’s something special.

So, of course, I wanted to keep up those traditions with Chloe so that one day Colette can join us!

For the first day of the 12 Days of Chriselle, we teamed up with a favorite of mine, Essie! Their new Gel Couture set is actually a lifesaver. I don’t always have time to get my nails done, and I’m the kind of person who will leave the salon and instantly get a chip or two (surprise, surprise) so this Gel Couture means I can skip the salon, save time and money, and get the same great results like a gel manicure at home! Chloe is a little too young to do gels, so I liked that this polish uses a gel top-coat as opposed to a light to set it!

Not to mention these shades are to die for. I went a little outside of my comfort zone and went for a beautiful caramel brown color called ‘of corset’. It’s like a little darker version of a nude polish, actually matches and goes with everything I wear, and I’m totally into it!

Chloe went for two different colors: pink and sparkles!! She chose the shades ‘bodice goddess‘ and ‘lace is more.’ She was so giddy when I was painting her nails and like I said, I don’t paint Chloe’s nails often, but when I do I’m always afraid she won’t sit still enough for them to dry and end up getting the polish all over herself or the house! Luckily, the top coat was surprisingly quick drying so I didn’t have to worry about a thing, and there’s no base coat needed so she didn’t have to sit too long!

After we finish our first holiday tradition of painting our nails (and make sure they’re totally dry) we make cookies! She gets so excited about baking cookies together for Santa because she thinks more cookies = more presents! She also ends up eating a lot of them herself so we end up having to make a couple of batches…

Other family traditions we started to do together were to write a letter to Santa, read a Christmas book (her favorite right now is The Night Before Christmas) and of course, decorate the tree! I let Chloe pick out all her own ornaments this year to decorate- and let me tell you – this little girl loves her sparkles!

I can’t wait for Colette to be old enough to join in our mommy and me holiday traditions! Perhaps we’ll have some new ones with her once she’s old enough!

Thanks to our partnership with Essie, we were able to make a generous donation to Baby2Baby!

To give yourself (or someone else) the gift of an at-home gel manicure, Essie is giving away two of the GelCouture sets to two lucky readers!
