A few months ago I did a post about some of my favorite books of 2017 (if you missed it, check it out here!) and I was so happy to see how well it was received. Reading is such a big part of my life and my creative process so it warms my heart that you all were so excited to check out my favorite books and leave recommendations of your own!
Since the start of 2018, I’ve spent a lot of time on an airplane – which equates to me having plenty of time to read! I gathered some of my favorite books I’m currently reading to share with you, so keep scrolling to check them out!
Managing Oneself by Peter F. Drucker
The Joy of Less: A Minimalist Guide to Declutter, Organize, and Simplify by Francine Jay
Carry On, Warrior: The Power of Embracing Your Messy, Beautiful Life by Glennon Doyle Melton
The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman PhD
Real World Mindfulness for Beginners: Navigate Daily Life One Practice at a Time by Brenda Salgado
As you can tell, I have a huge focus on self-help type of books lately. From books about marriage to kids and everything in-between, I never want to stop learning!
What books have you guys been reading recently? Are there any apps that you’ve been using to keep track of everything you’ve been reading so far? The CINCteam and I really enjoyed your recommendations last time, so keep them coming! So many books, so little time!

Chriselle, if you love self-help books look at Marie Kondo’s “Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” 🙂
Chriselle, I love your blog and you’re gorgeous! So cool of you to share your bookshelf. Thank you for the recommendations! I read a lot of nonfiction, especially memoir, and find bits of “self help” sprinkled into people’s stories and journeys. I wrote a memoir (called Everything You’ve Ever Done) about the spiritual discoveries and unconditional love my husband and I experienced in our wild life together, and how we made a party out of the last year of his life. I’d love it if you check it out, and will gladly send you a copy. Please contact me if you do! 🙂 Thank you! XO
I love reading fiction!
Haven’t really picked up a self-help book yet. But I’m considering reading The Secret. Have you read it? Would love to hear from you if you did!
Love,
Nikki

I wouldn’t be surprised if they have an app version, but Goodreads is my go-to website for tracking books and reading other people’s reviews on other books. It’s basically social media for book lovers!
Absolutely love it!

Hey Chriselle, I am currently a college student and I am glad to find many books you recommend about self-help especially at my age.
For recommendation of apps, I recently found one that I shared an account with my boyfriend. It is called the Blinkist. It isn’t for tracking reading progress per se, but it contains thousands of books’ summary (into chapters) so you can technically glance through many books in a day to know the essence of them. In addition you can download the audio version of the summary, I normally listen to the audio on my bus rides to class and home, which I think it’d pretty efficient especially when you have to face the LA traffic. But there is an annual fee though, it is a reasonable price if you eventually find a promotion, and there is free trials. Hope you can check that out and see if you like it! Oh also, just commenting because I am curious if you would ever get back to me haha.
Love from Chicago,
Jessie
Loving all of these recommendations! <3 Thank you for sharing your list, Chriselle! I've been loving Milk and Honey lately – it's a good poetry book! 🙂

Not a fan of self-help books at all.. Great sofa, though.
I’m reading GRACE, about Grace Coddington, former creative director at VOGUE.

When it comes to self-help books I haven’t read too many, but I recently read The Outliers, the story of success by Malcom Gladwell. If you haven’t read it already, I personally enjoyed it a lot. The studies throughout the book are very interesting. To how important your birthday is to studying Chinese agriculture. I love book posts 😉
Great collection of books! I love hearing other people’s suggestions for books. You can never have enough! One of my favorite authors is Liz Gilbert and her book Big Magic. As for fiction, anything by Philippa Gregory. My favorite of hers is The Other Boleyn Girl.

I’m reading Type R: Transformative Resilience for Thriving in a Turbulent World by Ama Marston and Stephanie Marston. It describes the process of how turbulence happens and the qualities of resilience that enable people to transform adversity into opportunities to grow, change, and become stronger.
I am not really a huge fan of self-help books because every time I get excited about one I kind of forget about it a leave it half read. I will definitely give my best effort to read the one about marriage because I’m always looking for ways to make my marriage better and stronger! I do prefer fiction and have posted a blog post today on some I’ve read recently too! Thank you so much for sharing!
