Sheet Mask 101

Sheet masks have been used in Korea for years now, so I’m super excited to see that they are being more widely used and actually kind of trending here in the States! There are many different types of masks out there and people typically use them to give their skin the maximum amount of hydration and lock in moisture. At this point, I consider them a total skincare routine staple! Although they’re pretty commonly used now, I still get a lot of questions about its benefits so I decided to give you all a little Sheet Mask 101! So grab your notebook, a number two pencil and get ready to take some notes!

WHO can use it:
Anyone and everyone can use a
sheet mask or three in their life! It can only help. I mean the iPhone 7 plus just captures everything these days, am I right?

WHAT is it:
A sheet mask is basically a sheet made out of papers, fibers or gel types that has been cut up to fit your face. It’s been soaked in a hydrating liquid, which is kind of the same thing as putting a serum on your face.

WHEN to use it:
Some people use it every single day. Some people use it when their skin is feeling dry and they need extra moisture. I use it whenever I can!
I really like to throw one on at the end of the day when I need to check my emails and dry my hair.  This is what I call multi-tasking at it’s finest.  Bless Allen’s heart.

WHERE to use it:
Anywhere! So long as you don’t mind looking like Freddy Kruger. I typically use it in the comfort of my own home, but you do you!

WHY use it:
I use it for it’s amazing hydration benefits. Anytime I use a sheet mask my skin always feels fantastic after! It’s just an easy way to #TreatYoSelf!

Here are some things you may not know about the sheet mask:

1. Use the leftover serum from the package on the décolletage and rest of your body! Dont waste this goodness!
2.
Make sure you do not wash your face when you’re done with the sheet mask. Pat the excess in, let your skin soak it up and then continue with your regular nightly routine!
3. Unlike other more abrasive masks, sheet masks are okay to use every day.

There are so many different types of sheet masks on the market right now, all ranging in price. You can go to Koreatown and buy one for $1, and then there are really luxurious ones from SKII for a hundred dollars! But no matter how much money you spend on them, make sure NOT to wash off the excess serum when you’re done!

I also love a really good eye mask when I’m flying.  You guys know I have no shame! Some masks say they will detox but I always prefer a clay mask  for detoxing. Are there any other skincare products you want to learn more about? Let me know in the comments below and have a great day!
