It happens to all of us. A pimple here. An unexpected dry patch there. Bad skin days are inevitable and always seem to happen at the worst times. So then comes the question: how do I deal with it? Whether you’re pinched for time, or already have one foot out the door, here are some quick and easy ways to fix a bad skin day.
MOISTURIZER & OIL
One trick I swear by when I notice I’m having a bad skin day is to mix 3-4 drops of my favorite serum into my moisturizer. This works wonders if my skin is looking particularly dry– which is almost always when I travel! My skin has the tendency to look really dull and not as dewy as normal. When I notice this, I’ll drop some oil like this one by Farmacy into my moisturizer to give my skin an extra burst of nourishment and hydration it needs.
When you’re having a bad skin day, a good concealer is your savior. This one by Clé de Peau Beauté has been my go-to for the last couple of months. It’s super creamy, pigmented and really gets the job done. It covers up your blemishes without feeling too heavy and lasts all day which is great for events or days when I’m shooting. A tip I picked up from one of the CINCteam girls is to apply the concealer on the blemish and leave it there for about five minutes to let the formula soak into your skin. Then, gently blend the concealer into your skin! This also works for covering up any under eye circles!

ICE
Treating your skin with ice is a great way to get the blood flowing, especially first thing in the morning. Lots of celebrities use this trick to help get rid of their under eye bags! Ice is also a great pimple treatment. Wrap a cube of ice in a paper towel, and hold on the blemish to zap that zit! This is great to do right when you notice a blemish appearing, to stop it from maturing into a full-on angry pimple.
Bad skin days are never fun, but with these tips in your arsenal- they might be a little more bearable. Do you have any tricks you rely on for a bad skin day? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to check out my other bad skin day hacks on Byrdie.com here!

Honestly, I had struggled majorly with acne since 25 and now I’m 31. I have normal combination so oily T zone but dry cheeks. Most of my break out was around the lip, chin and neck area. I’ve tried everything from cheap to high end cleansers, moisturizer, face masks, serum. None of it worked. The foam cleanser really were the worst for me. Beginning of this year I’ve stopped using any skincare product, including cleanser. I also don’t wear makeup unless I’m going out for a dinner or to an event (obviously I do use a cleanser after makeup).I’ve had no break out. None. Except for the one time I ate a whole bag of Taiwanese popcorn chicken by myself. And no I don’t eat super healthy but I also don’t eat a ton of fried food on a regular basis. Maybe once every 1.5 week. I don’t drink much milk or eat much cheese. I do eat vegetables almost every day. I don’t drink a ton of water but probably at least 2.5 Grande size cup of tea when I’m working. On my off days I don’t. I had only taken oral contraceptives for 1 year when I was 20 years old. So if you are struggling like me, maybe give your skin a chance to find some balance. I only meant for acne though, I still have redness, semi dark circles, some dry skin right around the nose and between the brows. None of it that bad though. I don’t, however, have naturally glowing skin so maybe I should use some face mask or try the juice + milk method in your Youtube video.

Thank you so much for sharing these tips Chriselle! 😀 I never knew that letting the concealer sit would actually have that affect; I’ve always just assumed that it would end up caking. Definitely going to try this tomorrow morning! And oh my, the ice for pimples trick sounds amazing!

I love best the ice treatment. Every now and then, I love to prepare a bowl of ice water to splash on my face after cleansing. It is so refreshing and yes you feel the blood circulation and best of all no need for blush at all, because you’ll walk away with a rosy skin colour. 🙂
Love all your tips posted and Merci for sharing! 🙂
