The Ultimate Guide to Sunscreen

So it might not officially be summer until next month, but it sure feels like it! One of the most important steps in any skincare routine, especially during the warmer months, is sunscreen!

Between avoiding an uncomfortable sunburn (ouch), protecting yourself against harmful UV rays, preventing sunspots, fighting against skin cancer and preventing wrinkles, sunscreen is absolutely crucial and I cant stress that enough (you will still manage to get a tan with sunscreen on). Remember, sunscreen is important for EVERYONE, no matter age or gender.

So grab your boyfriend, your little cousin, your best friend, your parents, your siblings, basically anyone and slather some sunscreen on them. Whether they like the mist version, the standard block version, or the SPF 100, they’ll thank you in the long run, I promise.

To help you guys get as passionate about sunscreen and my team and I are (do you blame us for looking out for you?), I created a little guide for all your sunscreen needs. To shop and discover more about each product, just click on any and all of the products!

Okay, be honest with me, do you guys use sunscreen daily? I want to know! Have a great weekend everyone!

A million times yes, sunscreen is (in my opinion) the most important step in your skincare routine! Always pack a small bottle of sunscreen in your handbag as well, to apply after you wash your hands throughout the day. Or else you run the risk of looking 30 in your 40’s, but your hands giving your age away 🙂 Thanks for the product suggestions!

  • Great helpful post! Thanks for sharing!

  • SUPER helpful – not all sunscreens are made equal and I love this guide – I will make sure to follow your recommendations!

Hello Chriselle. I love your writings so and reading your blog almost every day. 🙂 It gives me such inspiration.
Lately I have been concerning about face sagging issues and so confused amongst many procedures (PRP, peeling, mezotherapie etc). Could you please make a post about it? I would be very appreciate 🤗
(I’m 35, and enduring a very cold winter, dry and sunny summer 😉) thanks.

Love this post!! I literally don’t open the blinds in the morning before I have applied SPF, the obsession is real. I rotate between Neutrogena face & body 50+ (melts in), Mecca 50+ (illuminating!), Clinique City Block Sheer 25+ (physical only) and Laroche-Posay Anthelios XL (super thin) xo

  • Useful information!
This is the first time i come to your blog, and i found out that i have same style as you. Love it 😛

  • Jae says:

Sunscreen is definitely my daily essential item.
    Great post. 🙂

I love that you stress the importance of sunscreen! It’s such a great thing to educate us about! Although I don’t burn (the perks of Indian skin!) I of course want to protect myself from the UV so I use sunscreen on my face every day through my BB cream which has an SPF! I want to try some of these that you’ve suggested above though!

  • I am almost obsessive about putting on sunscreen, even during the colder months!

I’ve been meaning to ask, how do you get the thumbnail product marquee at the bottom of your page…I would like to do something similar with my blog but I don’t even know what it’s called to google it!

  • we are very much conscious about our skin and basically in summer. We should not leave the house without using sunscreen So I guess this product will help us for protecting our skin. Thanks for your sharing.

I love how thorough this guide is! <3 🙂 There's a sunscreen for every occasion! Hahah it definitely doesn't feel like summer these past few days in LA, but it should soon!

    XO, Elizabeth

  • Wow! I didn’t know there were so many options to help with sun blocking! These are really helpful recommendations for my upcoming Europe trip. I always use makeup with SPF but only put on sunscreen if I know I’m’ specifically going to be out in the sun for long. I wonder if that’s enough?

  • Kiri says:

I am so glad you posted on sunscreen.
I am going to try the neutrogena, Avene and the supergoop products – I’ll have to get them from amazon coz I don’t think we have them here.
What do you think of the Avene?
    I don’t use sunscreen daily.
I wear a hat and carry an umbrella.
I avoid sun. If I need to I wear sunscreen on my body – I put baby stuff on my face and wash it off as soon as I can.
I have never found a product that doesn’t give me pimples.

I wear sunscreen everyday but I haven’t come across one that is perfect for my skin type and sensitivities, with a high SPF, no whitish cast and a matte to natural finish. Any recommendations?

i definitely need to get better about sunscreen, i’ve had a two sunburns in the past year! they were both mild but still!!!

  • Def needed! SPF is so so important. No amount of skin care can do anything if you don’t apply sunscreen! Thanks for sharing!

  • nat says:

I need to get that avene sunscreen

  • Arlene Stankus says:

Yes, Yes and Yes! I never leave the house without it on my Face.

  • Hanna says:

I never leave the house without putting on sunscreen!! Every morning goes: gentle face cleanser + alcohol-free toner + moisturizer + sunscreen with high SPF to get me through my long commutes to class, which includes outdoor walking time! Doesn’t matter rain or shine, I always put on SPF because UV rays exist whether I want them to or not. Currently, I’m using Clinique’s 50 SPF sunscreen and it’s not sticky at all so I love it. I’m also a huge fan of korean sunscreen because they’re so lightweight and wearable. (:

At an early age, the Sun seems more important than sunscreen itself, playing in the sun was something big in my life. Today sunscreen never seems more important than ever. Love ❤️ the selections mentioned.
    Merci for sharing.
