On Sunset Days

Photography by Karen Rosalie

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I used to rely on the weekends to get my bit of R&R, but things have changed now. The weekends are incredibly exhausting for us now that we have Chloe in the picture, but cliche in that it’s so rewarding. Although this past Saturday she slept for 7 hours straight!!! I mean…I was in heaven! (Trust me, it’s life changing after you’ve been waking up every 2 hours.) I literally woke up in the middle of the night waiting for her to wake me up, but nope she slept through the entire night! Allen and I had to go to a few birthday and engagement parties this past weekend, which meant that Chloe had to go too. It used to give me so much anxiety bringing her out in public.  I mean there are a number of unexpected things that can always occur, and of course  the expected pooping and crying. I can now say that Allen and I are totally immune to all of this now, and besides she’s a pretty easy baby in general. Although the weekends are so exhausting, it’s worth every minute as we get to spend every waking moment with her!

These were obviously shot before I chopped off my locks! If you joined my Periscope session last week, you know how I feel about my new hair..I’m slowly getting used to it! But anyway, can we talk about this Kooples Butterfly Print Silk Dress for a second? Besides the fact that I’m deathly scared of butterflies (I know…so embarrassing and sad!! I can’t help it!), I instantly fell in love with the butterfly print & ruffled skirt on this feminine and airy dress. I decided to pair it with a knitted cozy cardigan as it’s the best outfit to watch a sunset in, and also to nurse in while doing so! (I’ve recently become a big fan of low V necklines paired with oversized cardigans because it is the easiest to nurse in. Will be sharing a video on this very soon!) Details are what makes a good piece into a great & memorable piece, and for me the black lace-up detail is definitely the icing on the cake. The laced up trend has been popping up everywhere this Spring and Summer, but most of the looks are a bit too provocative for my taste. So, when I found this dress I felt that it brought together all the elements I love when dressing for the beach: femininity, playfulness, and coziness.  Here I paired this dress with my trusty oversized cardigan. The beautiful elements in this dress make it one of the prettiest things I’ve found this spring. What are your favorite spring pieces?

A fellow mommy recently told me a quote that I think we can all apply to our lives, “The days are long but the years are short.” Focus on the big picture and take the small steps to get there every single day. Happy Monday everyone
