{Old To New} Layering Leather & Lace
I wore this outfit last week to speak on the Simply Stylist panel. It was just a few hours before the event, and I was having one of those “OMG..i have nothing to wear” moments. In the midst of my panic attack, I pulled out this lace dress and sighed, “If no one would notice, I would totally wear this dress again.” And that’s when a lightbulb went off! (Don’t you love it when you solve your own problems??) What if I reworked this dress and layered this circle skirt over it?
Wore this dress previously HERE & HERE
The problem I usually run into when layering a skirt over a dress is the bulkiness and weight that comes along with it. The Tip is to make sure your bottom layer, in this case my lace dress, is lightweight. While the top layer, in my case the circle skirt, already comes with some volume…giving you room to play with layers.
And surpsingly enough no one noticed that I actually reworked an old dress to create a whole new outfit! In fact most people thought I was wearing a one piece dress, and was surprised when I told them that I had a dress layered under the skirt! Also having the right accessories such as my rockstud leopard pumps + Butterfly clutch can completely transform a look! And the right belt will always bring the look together.

I challenge you guys to go into your closet and see what you can transform this week! I promise, it’s quite liberating!
Hope you are all having a beautiful week so far!

Thanks so much Erica! xoxo
very gorgeous outfit Chriselle. but one question, with this kind of open back top, did you wear bra?? i have a jumpsuit with open back like your dress, also low V at the front. i love that jumpsuit, but its really headache to figure out what would be the best way. ( i’m not confident enough to go braless…….) HELP =”'(
Sometimes you can find great bras that cut off on the sides and stick to you with adhesive. I wish you luck finding the perfect one for you! =)
Oh my goodness, can you look any more gorgeous?? This dress is absolutely heavenly, and I love the shoes that you paired with it. beautiful!!

Thank you Inna! You’re so supportive of all that I post! Thank you Thank you!! <3 xoxo
Hey Chriselle!
Loved your outfit today! And I really like how you rework some of your past outfits into something totally brand new! I actually would love to see more of this – you reworking old pieces into new outfits. It always seems like you have new clothes! And while that’s not a bad thing, its just that most of us can’t afford to constantly have new clothing. Thanks! 🙂
Hi Leslie, Thank you for the request! It’s something I love to do! <3
love the quick wardrobe change up, you look amazing!
Thanks Huyen! I’m glad you liked the outfit!
LOVE the look of this! I like that little peek of lace from under your skirt. What kind of bra do you wear with backless dresses?
Thank you Elle! You can wear an adhesive half bra ( where it sticks to the sides and cuts off in the back). Or you can wear one that just sticks to your body in the front made out of a sticky silicone material.
Edgy but elegant at the same time! Love it!
