One of the very first shows that I attended for Paris Fashion Week (not haute couture) was an Alexis Mabille show. Being invited back for their couture show was very exciting. It brought back a lot of memories from when I first started. I decided to wear this dramatic green Maison Margiela long blouse (similar here), which made me feel like a modern day ninja assassin.
What I loved about this show was that Alexis Mabille cast several of his personal friends & actresses that aren’t models, which added a personal touch to his glamorous gowns. This collection felt very old Hollywood to me. It had a lot of sheer lace, feathers and bead work. What I appreciate about Mabille is that he doesn’t play along much with trends; his collections are always classic and timeless. I mean, a Chantilly lace dress can be worn now or ten years from now!

This guy is so overrated. He is exploiting tons of work placement students making them work until early morning and doesn’t even care to cater for food or transport. Half of his pieces are made in India. They have no respect at all for the people working for them. And just because he is supported by the Chambre de la Couture, he can get away with this type of treatment. Unbelievable!!
