Powerskirt
Photography by Marlena Pearl
Growing up I was physically the least developed out of all my friends, which caused me to be extremely self cautious at a young age. I developed a fascination with well dressed women who seemed so poise and confident, and for whatever reason i associated confidence with the little black dress & of course a pencil skirt. I guess you can blame my early obsession with Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn in “Breakfast At Tiffany’s”.
Fast forward a few years, my uniform now consists of a variety of feminine dresses, power suits (as seen HERE) , and sleek pencil skirts (as seen HERE) . There’s something so compelling about a streamlined pencil skirt that hugs your hips just in the right areas…I like to call this the POWERSKIRT. Although it may be slightly antiquated, there are more modern silhouettes like this midi skirt i’m wearing.
Confidence starts by accepting who you are, and loving your body first. October is a very imperative time of year, for women, as it is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Speaking of POWER dressing there is nothing more powerful than taking the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.
Tommy Hilfiger launched the seventh limited edition handbag in support of Breast Health International (BHI). It’s a midsize satchel-tote with a midnight blue core and cherry red side pannels which resembles the the classically modern and powerful woman in today’s day in age. Proceeds of the bag’s sales will be donated to BHI, a leading non-profit foundation that works to advance breast cancer research and treatment. $100 of each sale will go directly to the Fund for Living. This global initiative provides assistance to women with breast cancer and their families by covering costs or addressing unique problems associated with their care that may not be covered by health insurance programs.
Hope we can continue to encourage, inspire, & empower one another.

I love this look! It’s way to cold to wear it like this in my country right now and for some reason I never really like light colored skirts with thick tights!

Love the way you were able to make a plaid shirt look chic.
The POWERSKIRT is beautiful! I agree with you about the black dress and the pencil, I’ve felt self cautious about my body as well but these 2 pieces always made me feel great:)

Hi Chriselle! Lovely outfit, you look really stylish. I’m a big fan of check print, so for me the shirt you are wearing is gorgeous but I specially liked the way you combined it with the long skirt, making the look more girly and elegant and also the shoes color maxing with the shirt. You rock!
