How to Build The Perfect Fall Wardrobe
A capsule wardrobe is the perfect way to transition your closet into a new season. It’s those few pieces that you can rely on to mix and match with your other season staples to give your wardrobe a whole new life. Plus, it’s a great way to play with trends or refresh some classics!
If you don’t know what a capsule wardrobe is, basically it’s a small selection of clothes where everything can work with anything. It focuses on pieces made with quality, personality, and versatility.

A Statment Bag
A chic bag can take you all the way through fall, into winter, and into next year as well! It’s all about something that works best with you, your style and your needs. The one in the photos here is a gorgeous orange bag from Longchamp that I’ve had so much fun styling. I have a lot of neutral bags that I ADORE, but it’s been fun playing around with a pop of color. Check out some of my statement bag picks below:
Leather Pieces
If you remember from this post here, leather pieces are a must-have trend for me for this season. First thing’s first- you need a good leather jacket! It’s one of those pieces that you’ll love forever! PRO TIP: depending on how you’re going to wear your leather jacket, make sure you get a size that can work over sweaters as well! You don’t want your $500 leather jacket to only work when you’re wearing a slip dress!
Cozy Scarf
A scarf is one of those accessories that will never go out of style. A cozy scarf thrown over anything you wear can instantly add an element of Fall, all while keeping you warm and cozy! They’re lifesavers on planes, and a great way to layer up without having to put on another sweater! You can also play around with ways to wear them.
Boots
I can’t wait to trade in my sandals for some boots! While I’ve got one or two pairs that I’ll be breaking back out from last season, there are a few that I’ve got my eye on for this coming fall. Check out which boots I’m loving down below!
Blazer
A blazer is a must-have for any wardrobe in my opinion, but this season I’ve been seeing so many belted blazers! I’m really them, and the extra help the belt gives for a cinched waist. If you’re not too sure about the trend, a classic blazer (perhaps a pretty blue one?) is the best way to add a layer AND look put together, polished and expensive.

I definitely don’t have a capsule wardrobe, but I do have some fall basics that I reach for over and over again. These actually include a black pair of boots, a leather or faux leather jacket and a few long-sleeve dresses.

Hi!
My capsule wardrobe is pretty much the same. I love a tailored blazer, comfy heeled boots or a pair of loafer and obviously a good leather jacket!
xx
I agree with owning a blazer, it’s a must-have piece! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
So happy that leather shirts and pants are coming around this fall! I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe and consuming less stuff. Gorgeous post and great tips!!
Love all of your picks <3 🙂 Can't wait for fall!
