How to Style Your Favorite Summer Pieces for Fall

Hi everyone! It’s Hannah back on the blog today!

Here’s the deal, if I had it my way I’d buy an entirely new wardrobe every single season. Since I’m not made of money, and I’m sure you guys aren’t either… I’ve been trying to stretch as much of my summer wardrobe into fall.

Keep scrolling to discover how I style my favorite summer pieces for fall!

The Piece: PJ Trousers

I bought these PJ inspired pants a few months back and I seriously love them. The stripes are totally on trend for fall (have you guys seen Chriselle’s favorite fall trends yet?) and any kind of loose pants are my go-tos for work. Mostly because they actually feel like you’re wearing PJ pants! I like to call them my lazy girl style hack. Did I mention they’re only $30?

I wore them with just a fun graphic t-shirt and slides over the summer (check out my outfit here!) but to bring them into fall, all I had to do was throw on a cool pair of heeled boots and voila! These pants are on the thin side, so if you live in a colder climate, I’d definitely layer a pair of tights or heat-tech leggings underneath!

The Piece: Linen Button Down

Button downs are classics and a good white one is a must have in any wardrobe. This summer I was all about this linen button down! Linen button downs are a little bit more on the pricey side but absolutely worth the investment. The fabric is super breathable and cool so it wasn’t torture to wear something with sleeves during the very warm weather we had in LA this summer. I wore it here with a pair of denim cut-offs and loafers!

All I had to do to bring it into fall was throw on an oversized grey sweater on top! I love the preppy look that a button down + sweater has. I don’t know what it is, but cold weather always brings out my preppy side!

I think my favorite part about this outfit is the layering aspect. It’s that weird time in LA where it’s very chilly in the mornings and then downright hot towards the middle of the day. I wore this look to work the other day and when I got hot, all I had to do was take off the sweater and roll up my sleeves!

The Piece: Slip Dress

I love this slip dress so very much. The star print is adorable, it’s super comfortable and I’ve been able to dress it up and dress it down so much this past summer! Check out the exact dress here from Silk Laundry and here’s a similar all-black slip dress for only $70! I wore it once with heels and a leather jacket, and when I was on vacation in Mexico, I wore it with a pair of lace-up sandals for dinner!

To transition it into fall, I grabbed my Chriselle Lim Collection Cleo Cardigan (it’s under $100 bucks and is SO soft) and buttoned it up! It added a warm layer to a thin dress and I love the warm brown and black together. A pair of black heeled boots and I had an instantly cool fall look.

A few years ago it was all the rage to wear a turtleneck UNDER your slip dress (which I still love don’t get me wrong), but this year I’m fully embracing the oversized cardigan/sweater over a slip dress look. Especially now that slip skirts are making waves.

The Piece: Strappy Heels

So if you remember one of my posts from this summer, I talked about socks and sandals. I started experimenting with my tube socks because I had sprained my ankle back in June and I wanted something to cover up the brace I was wearing, but I ended up falling head over heels for the trend!

Especially as it gets colder, throwing on a fun pair of socks like these or these with my heels is a great way to extend their life into Fall and keep my toes warm. Not a fan of socks? Then a pair tights (like these) are the way to go! Really really cold?

So that’s how I’m extending my summer wardrobe into fall! Though I won’t lie to you guys, I did a little shopping last weekend. I got this sweater dress from Topshop for only $50!- it’s crazy soft and the pretty cream nude will look killer with a dark vampy lip. I also got this skirt from Reformation because we all know how much I love a good slit!

Until next time!
