Before we officially talk about getting your Fall wardrobe together (who else is excited about sweater weather?), I wanted to talk to you guys about finding your own personal style, because once you know what you feel and look the best in, there’s very little guessing that will go on in what you should or shouldn’t be spending your money on!
Keep in mind: style is ever-changing. Defining your personal style doesn’t mean you have to stick with it forever. As I’ve evolved and grown as a person, my style has also evolved. But at this moment in time, this is my signature style and what it consists of. And who knows! It might change in the next few years, and that’s the best part about the beauty of fashion.
CLOTHES
After playing around with trends, I’ve realized I feel the most confident when I’m wearing pants/trousers and always end up having the best days when I wear them.
For the longest time, I thought I was a dress person– for those of you that have been following me for a long time, you know that once upon a time I only lived in dresses and that totally was my signature style back then. But now high waisted wide leg pants make me feel strong, sophisticated and sleek. You’ll usually see me in a pair of trousers like these two to three times a week. Especially for a big meeting- wearing wide leg trousers makes me feel powerful and confident. Plus, they instantly elongate your legs!
To pair with my pants, I’ll usually go for a simple blouse or top. The one I’m wearing is an off-the-shoulder top with super chic balloon sleeves (check out a similar top here). I love finding simple blouses with subtle twists!
ACCESSORIES
As for shoes, a classic pointed white pump is a wardrobe must-have for me. If not white, I always find myself gravitating toward pointed shoes. I feel the most confident in them and I feel like the silhouette pulls a look together nicely.
When it comes to jewelry, I prefer wearing one statement piece- like my sleek choker or a pair of strong hoops. I rarely do a lot of stacking like I used to. I feel that more minimal and clean pieces work best for my style.
For my bag, I’m loving structured pieces. This one here is my latest from Carolina Santa Domingo. If I’m not carrying this one seen here, I love this smaller bag here or this bucket bag. Each has almost a masculine feel to them, which I love!
Sunglasses are really where I let myself play with trends. Currently, I’ve been loving the new cat eye. I’ve always had a thing for cat-eye glasses, but the new shape is great and I love how it has a retro feel!
HAIR
This hair style became a signature look for me totally on accident. I started doing my topknot like this after I had Chloe because I simply didn’t have the time to do anything else. I found it easiest to just throw my hair up in a bun! I love that it’s chic, (adds a few inches to my height) and goes with pretty much any look I’m wearing.
[parallax][/parallax]So now comes the question, how do YOU find your signature style? Here are my 3 tips on finding it:
1. Mood Board
Every season my team and I make a mood board of things that inspire us.And that covers everything from trends, colors, silhouettes, and photography. We either find inspiration from magazines and post them up on the wall or even a Pinterest board! Finding inspo is a great way to hone in on what you’re loving for the season!
2. Experiment
You’ll never know if you like something until you try it, right? So experiment, make mistakes, and most importantly, make sure you have fun! Fashion is all about expressing yourself.
3. Ask Yourself What You Feel Confident In
Even if it’s simple, who cares! They say to do what makes you happy and if wearing something makes you happy… then wear it!
Once you find your signature style- (I learned this from the French) you don’t have to be afraid of repeating the same outfits in different variations. If you want to wear a striped shirt and black jeans 5 days in a row- no one will question it, because it’s your signature!
I feel like here in the U.S, there’s a pressure to wear something different every day thanks to the trend of social media, but I’ve gotten to a point where I don’t mind wearing the same type of outfit over and over again!
Have you guys found your signature style? Let me know in the comments below and have a great day!

Stunning!
I love sweater weather and I love love love your outfit! ❤️❤️❤️
Love it! I’m definitely a dress person, I wish my closet was full of them! I also love my hair up in a bun, I have a lot of hair, so it looks good/adds few inches to my height visually/and so easy! I grew up doing ballet and still am in a couple of classes a week so I guess I’m a bunhead for life!
I totally agree that it’s about wearing what you’re most confident in. I LOVE skirts, particularly long ones. People always tell me I have such a unique style, but it’s really because I wear what I want to wear, what makes me feel happiest, without considering trends or how other people might perceive me. Just let go and have fun!

Thank you for this post! I am currently still experimenting with new clothing items. I sometimes feel that it is boring keeping the same style or hairstyle but your post makes me realize that I don’t have to feel bad about doing it.
Thank you Christelle

Such a nice post! I know what style suits me best but I’m also scared people will judge it won’t suit me anymore when I get older. But thanks to your post it inspires me to be confident about it. You look so good in flared high waisted trousers, keep rocking it!

Great tips Chriselle!! I actually love seeing you in the wide-leg high-waisted pants – you pull them off so well !! xo, Alisha Ricki | Life(Style) &Travel,
Love love the wide leg pants. But sometimes, it intimidates me because I’m in the petite size. I’m not too small though, I think. I am 5ft 2inch. I always struggle to find a good one that doesn’t make me look too short and also a good paring top.
Love reading about other styles and learning something new. Personally I feel the most confident and comfortable (one may disagree) in a pencil dress and a pair of stilettos. It has been my style since I remember … with my new blog I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone in pretty much every single post that I have put together ! I’m just thrilled how many crazy and interesting opportunities I get thanks to my own and other blogs to experiment with styles and who knows maybe one day I will drop my fave pencil dress for a pair of baggy trousers! Thanks for sharing, love your signature style

Lately, I’ve been loving some nice chinos with a large sweater, or linen pants with a sweater and a hat. I love the laid back, classically masculine feel of it. I’ve also been loving print blocking for the summer months. Thanks for the style inspo! Might try out the wide leg, high waisted look out (:
I loved reading this post! Thanks for the great tips 🙂 And as usual, I love your outfit! <3

Love this post Chriselle! I think it is so important to know yourself and your own style, and yes, it changes. But, I’m loving the idea of a Mood Board! Thank you so much! I’m going to go to the local craft store and pick up the biggest bulletin board I can find and plaster it with magazine pictures, fabric samples, and everything else I’m loving for fall. It’ll hang right here on the wall above my computer!
I love this post thank you! You look great in everything!
Your style is so stunning, Chriselle! And lovely tips always! 💕Beyond excited to see your fall style in the months to come 🍂🍁

Personally, as long as I have a good, sturdy pair of jeans I’m golden. Everything else in my closet goes well with them! I also usually only wear a simple gold toned necklace to bring out what little warmth my fair skin has. XD

This is a great post . I often work with development of personal style for clients and always come back to ” How does it make you feel ?” Style is not fashion and the sooner we learn this the better! Remember the classics! What I admire about your style is “classic good taste ” .

Creating moodboards, especially on Pinterest, has been my #1 favorite and most effective way in defining my personal style! This is something I have struggled with, especially as a blogger, but I’m starting to become more confident in my choices and aesthetics! Great post, Chriselle!

This is such a great post Chriselle! I love that you’ve shared your personal style favourites with us but my favourite part is that you specified how personal style can change, and that is so true! Style is a reflection of our personality and as we evolve, so does our style right! Gorgeous picks and you look FAB!

Beautiful advice … style is individuality, style is unique that can only represent who we are and where we are in life, style evolves as each day passes, but the beautiful thing that remains is our own uniqueness that will never change! 🙂
Love ❤️ this post! 🙂
