It’s funny how accessories can make or break your outfit. Accessories can turn a basic outfit into an amazing outfit. For the girls who might not have time to plan an outfit for New Year’s Eve, I’ve got three easy tips to inspire you to take your look to the next level! This is basically the last outfit you’ll wear for 2015, so make it a good one! So, here are my tips to take an ordinary outfit and transform it into the perfect New Year’s Eve look!
1. Brooches on Your Sweater
If you follow me on Instagram (@chrisellelim), you know that I paired this gorgeous frayed jacket with my frayed jeans for a casual look. This tweed jacket is great because with accessories like a cluster of pins and brooches, you can dress it up. The gold from the brooches will pop from the monochromatic black outfit and buttoning in the front will define your waist and make your whole outfit look clean and elegant! If you don’t have brooches, just cluster some pretty stud earrings to add a little sparkle!
2. Layer Your Necklaces
One of my favorite tricks to glam-up my outfit is to layer necklaces. I usually gravitate toward more dainty jewelry, but for a party, I love changing it up. Wearing necklaces of different shapes, colors and lengths can give a plain outfit a bold edge and add dimension. I loved layering these two necklaces in particular. They’re bold statement pieces and layering them gives them new life! It looks like I have a brand new necklace in my wardrobe! When layering such strong pieces, it’s important to let them be the focal point. So I styled them with a simple cream sweater to add and edgy element!
3. Sparkle Headband
Headpieces are really the perfect accessory to glam up any outfit. They’re totally underestimated! Both elegant and timeless they can really brighten up your face. When I’m having trouble with styling my short hair, or don’t have time to, adding a headpiece to a simple low pony always seem to solve the problem. So when wearing a sexy dress, it’s all about balance. You don’t want to distract from the dress by accessorizing with the wrong pieces. The headband blends subtly with the overall outfit without taking the focus from the dress and adds just the right amount of sparkle. It’s a statement piece yet still dainty and feminine.
And there you have it! 3 different accessories to glam up your basic New Year’s Eve outfit. Especially if you need something last minute! I hope these 3 outfits inspired you to wear something bold, elegant or delicate for your New Year’s Eve party! Check out my other New Year’s Eve looks here!
