Don't Sleep on These Drugstore Skincare Products

Hi all! It’s Hannah! Since working for Chriselle, my skincare has definitely gotten fancier.

Once upon a time- I didn’t even know serums were a thing, and the thought of putting any kind of oil or acid on my face seemed ridiculous. While my top-shelf might look a lot different than it did when I was in college…there are a few drugstore skincare products that I’ll always repurchase and have on hand.

Some are new discoveries (shout out to the CVS around the corner from my apartment!) and some are old favorites, but here are my top picks for the drugstore skincare products that you shouldn’t be sleeping on:

Avene Moisturizer

I first grabbed this moisturizer when I went to Italy last year. I find that gel-based moisturizers work best for me in humidity, so it was perfect! It’s super lightweight and melted right into my skin. The little bottle shot here is actually empty- like scraped every last bit of this! Plus, since I packed in a carry-on, it was less than 3oz so I didn’t have to worry.

Versed Serum

Is it too dramatic if I say that this serum changed my skin? I was first introduced to this serum last summer and I’m already on my second bottle. While I’m in love with all Versed products, this one is absolutely my favorite. It has willow bark extract in it, niacinamide, and a zinc which all help calm inflammation, decongest pores and basically keep breakouts OUT. I use it both in the morning and at nighttime.

Dr Teal’s Coconut Oil Lotion

This lotion smells SO good. I first discovered it thanks to my mom! When I was back in Texas for the holidays, she would always smell amazing after she showered and it turns out she was using this lotion. Not only does it smell great, but it’s super light and moisturizing. If you’re more of a thick body-butter consistency type of person, then this may not be for you.

Dr Teal’s Epsom Salts

I’m so thankful that my apartment has a bathtub to take epsom salt baths in because they’re heavenly. I usually always have (I’m out at the moment, sadly- need to restock) a bag of Dr. Teal’s Epsom salts for my weekly bubble bath. I love the Soothing Lavender scent because it smells great and is super relaxing. Epsom salts (no matter the scent) are great for easing muscle tension and relieving stress!

Simple Unscented Makeup Remover Wipes

I try not to use makeup remover wipes too much, but when I’m in a pinch or traveling, they’re great to have on hand- and I love these! This brand is great for sensitive skin since it’s unscented and it leaves my skin makeup free and without a weird greasy oily residue that other wipes have.

COSrx Pimple Patches

I know I’ve preached about these pimple patches previously (some alliteration, anyone?) but they’re seriously lifesaving. If you’ve never heard of them before, they’re little stickers you pop onto your pimples or zits and leave on overnight. The stickers suck out all the nastiness from your pimple leaving it flatter and less red!

Honest Body Wash

Okay I know this is technically for kids AND not the “chicest” product to have for your shower shelfie, but the Honest Shampoo and Body Wash is all kinds of underrated. First, it smells heavenly, and second, it’s super gentle- which is great for sensitive skin!

Bioderma Micellar Water

If you haven’t tried a micellar water before, I highly suggest hopping on the trend. I first heard about it when Chriselle would do her French Pharmacy finds and I was so happy when it made its way to the states! It seriously melts off even the most stubborn makeup. I like to use it as the 2nd step in my makeup removing process right after I wash my face! It’s crazy how much makeup stays on your skin even after you wash it.

Good old Vaseline. This is a drugstore skincare staple for me! I use it when my nostrils are raw after a cold, or if my lips are super chapped. You really can’t go wrong!
