Eye Creams - To Invest or Not Invest

Conversations around eye creams are getting really heated these days.

Okay, I’m being a little dramatic but some people seem to feel very strongly around whether to use eye cream or if they’re just a waste of money so I want to take it here to discuss!

Some argue that it’s just an overpriced cream packaged into a little jar and marketed for your eyes and others (like myself) say it’s just like working out: you notice the long term effects of not using it once you stop.

I, for one, have been using an eye cream since I was 16 years old. At the time, I was working at the Lancôme counter at South Coast Plaza and was taught the importance of hydrating your eyes – the skin around your eyes is the thinnest after all! That’s why you see that your eyes are the first part of your skin to age (dark circles, fine lines, crows feet, etc.) so I always made sure to add a little eye cream in the morning and at night with my ring finger and have always made sure I have one on my vanity.

Here are some of my favorite eye creams at the moment and yes, I have 4 eye creams that I use interchangeably depending on the weather and what my diet was that day… or if I had one too many glasses of say…natural wine.

YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE Superfood Peptide Eye Cream

I like using this Youth To the People eye cream in the daytime during the spring and summer. It feels so lightweight and hydrating like a nice little souffle for your eyes and is packed with peptides and antioxidants.

I like using this Tatcha Revitalizing Eye Cream at night because it feels really rich and hydrating. It has Okinawa red algae and hyaluronic acid in it to provide long-lasting moisture. Since your cells are regenerating while you sleep, I like having this one soak into my skin while I catch some zzz’s and wake up without crust around my eyes (you guys know what I’m talking about).

Dr. Barbara Sturm Super Anti-Aging Serum

Okay, this is next-level bougie of me but I saw that Dr. Barbara Sturm said that you can use this Super Anti-Aging Serum as an eye serum and tried it out one day and kind of loved it. Now, this bottle is super expensive so I only do this on the days that I’ve been really naughty and out late to wake up with super firm skin around my eyes.

True Botanicals Deep Repair Eye Serum

I recently got on board with True Botanicals after receiving a facial by my girl Noelle and fell deeply in love with their clean products and brand ethos. This eye serum is non-toxic, made clean and deeply hydrating. I love using this in the mornings and night depending on my mood.

So, let’s discuss! What are your thoughts on eye cream? Do you feel like it’s worth the investment or do you skip it altogether? Are you using one? Let’s discuss.
