CINCteam Approved – Top 5 Books of the Summer

There’s nothing like curling up with a good book and letting your imagination run.

While I love listening to my podcasts, I’m constantly hopping between books. There’s something so satisfying about tangibly holding a book in your hands that just feels so good to me but maybe you’re more of an e-reader or audiobook kind of person. No matter how you do it, reading is such a great way to learn and grow and we can all make time to read a little more no matter how busy we are!

Some of the girls on the CINCteam and I always talk about what we’re reading and are always passing around our recommendations. During lunch the other day, we were talking about our summer reads, so I decided to round up our favorites and share the CINCteam Approved Top 5 Books of the Summer. So, to get you all through the rest of your summer reading and into fall, here are our favorite reads of the summer:

CHRISELLE
Currently Reading: Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg

As you might know, I recently started a new business, Bümo Parent! I knew starting a business would be a lot, so this summer I’ve been reading one business book after another! Lean In has been a huge help. Would you guys like a post about all the business books and podcasts I’ve been reading?

LAUREN – President
Currently Reading: Good Talk: A Memoir in Conversations

This book was not like anything I’ve read before! Good Talk is like a cross between a graphic novel and a memoir. It’s all about the author, Mira Jacob’s, conversation about race with her 6-year-old son. The book is eye-opening, funny, and you won’t be able to put it down!

LAURA – Director of Operations
Currently Reading: Reboot: Leadership and the Art of Growing up by Jerry Colonna

I’ve just started reading this book, and I’m really enjoying it! It’s all about helping you recognize how your patterns a.ka. emotional baggage may be replaying in your leadership roles and how that affects the way you lead. The book is more of a spiritual/philosophical book rather than your typical “how to lead a team” book. It’s all about working on yourself…

JANE  – Editorial Director
Currently Reading: Becoming by Michelle Obama

I just finished Becoming and I could hear and feel Michelle’s voice throughout each chapter. It was nice to get her perspective and see things through her lens. Her words made me very nostalgic for our old President (we want you back so much, Barack) but hopeful. It was written with so much dignity and grace and was very uplifting – something we can all use a little more of these days in the States. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

HANNAH – Editor & Contributor
Currently Reading: Harry Potter Series

I’m awfully nostalgic, so anytime I feel like I’m in a funk I like to crack open one of my well-loved copies of Harry Potter. I instantly feel at peace, like talking to an old friend. I’ve read the series countless times, but I still laugh (and cry) at all the same parts! If you haven’t read the Potter series, I can’t recommend them enough!
