My Favorite Business Podcasts & Books

PSA: I may sound like a broken record by now, but I want to remind you guys how much I love listening to podcasts.

They’re a great source of entertainment, knowledge, and are absolute LIVE SAVERS on my hour and a half commute to and from the office. If you’ve watched the most recent Catching Up with Chris, you know that it’s with the help of a bunch of podcasts, books, and audiobooks that I’ve learned SO MUCH for my new business Bumo. From investor meetings to business etiquette and beyond, I’m so thankful that I can make my commutes work for me!

Keep scrolling to check out my favorite business-focused podcasts and books!

Here’s the thing with audiobooks: they take forever to finish. As opposed to a podcast where I can listen to start to finish on my commute, an audiobook can take me up to a month to finish. My tip is to speed up the audio to be 3x faster! It takes a second to get used to it, but it really helps me get through books quicker! Here’s what I’ve been listening to:

The Art of Startup Fundraising by Alejandro Cremades

Next Up:

Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future by Peter Thiel

You’ll probably recognize some of the podcasts on this list if you’ve read this post here, but listening to them with the purpose of applying what I learn to a startup company has really helped me get more out of them! Here’s what I’ve been listening to:

Girl Boss Radio

The Queen of #GirlBosses herself, Sofia Amoruso herself is the face behind this podcast. Every episode, the Nasty Gal founder brings on guests to talk about their own unique mark in their respective fields.

Accidental Creative

I’m sure you recognize this one as I’ve been talking about it for years. It’s great to help creatives get out of a rut, think about things in a creative/business capacity, how to manage creatives, etc.

How I Built This

This podcast is all about the stories behind some of the world’s best-known companies, like Bobbi Brown, Jen Rubio from Away Suitcases and Emily Weiss of Glossier! It’s so inspiring and really gets the wheels going.

CNN Boss Files

The Boss Files podcast is so interesting. It’s all about leadership advice from entrepreneurs, CEOs, and innovators – which is equally inspiring as much as it is educational.

Second Life

Hosted by Who What Wear’s co-founder Hillary Kerr, this podcast is so much fun to listen to especially if you work in fashion/beauty/digital media! It’s all about amazing entrepreneurs who go through career changes and get their “second life”. It’s amazing to hear how entrepreneurs can translate and apply what they learned from one profession into a new one.

Founder’s Project

This podcast is about how entrepreneurs at the forefront of technology have been changing the name of the game.

Raising the Bar

I love this podcast! Hosted by Alli Webb (the Queen behind Drybar) and her brother Michael Landau, it goes into business owners, risking it all, and being passionate.
