Sunscreen comes in many different shapes, sizes, and formulas these days. It’s hard to know which one works best for you when there are so many options out there.
If you watched the most recent episode of Catching Up with Chris and/or followed me on Instagram… you know that I was in Hawaii for my cousin’s wedding a few weeks ago with both of the girls.
While I was ready to spend every moment I could soaking up the sun with the fam, I knew that I had to take extra precaution with sunscreen and didn’t want to risk not having any once we got there. I took a couple of SPF options and actually ended up using all of them at some point during our beach vacation.
So, between a great face mist with SPF, an easy to apply sunscreen stick for the girls, and a sensitive skin friendly mineral sunscreen- Chloe, Colette, Allen and I were all SPF’d up!
Keep scrolling to check out what I thought of each sunscreen I brought with me.
Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50
know I’ve preached about a good face mist a million times on the blog- but they’re seriously the best. What’s even better is if you can get one with SPF like this mist from Supergoop! It’s super refreshing, gives you an extra little layer of SPF 50, and smells great. Another reason this mist has been a go-to is how pretty the packaging is – it was designed in collaboration with the one and only Rebecca Taylor so it fits in with any beach bag. Though I wouldn’t recommend solely wearing this SPF by itself for a full day at the beach, it’s great to layer and refresh your SPF throughout the day and layer it on top of your face sunscreen. The only downside to this mist is that it stung my face a little bit when I used it, but I think that was only because I had already been out in the sun.
Avène Mineral Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50+
Speaking of face sunscreen, this mineral sunscreen from the amazing French brand Avéne is incredible. It’s super gentle, sensitive skin friendly, and is formulated with Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide to provide broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It also comes in a tinted version which some of the girls on my team use all the time! The formula blends really easily, but with my combination type skin, I was weary about it clogging my pores.
Beauty Counter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30
I used this sunscreen every day while I was in Hawaii! It’s SPF 30, water-resistant, protects against UVA, UVB, and blue light, and it’s infused with antioxidants and aloe vera. It’s super hydrating, which is great when you’re spending all day in the sun! The formula is super gentle and really easy to apply. It does contain zinc but doesn’t leave you with a weird ghostlike filter – which means it’s great for darker skin tones as well. I only wish the SPF was higher. Since it only SPF 30, I felt like I had to re-apply more often than I would have liked.
So, do you have a favorite sunscreen? Let me know down below and if you haven’t already, be sure to watch the newest episode of Catching Up With Chris below!

Chriselle! Supergoop’s mist contains chemical, harmful for the reefs and us ingredients such as: Homosalate and Avobenzone. Stay away from them for your and your familie’s health. Have a good day!😊
Great choices, but on our last trip to Hawaii we were made aware of using reef safe sunscreens to help protect the coral reefs. Any suggestions for sunscreens that do all the other good stuff as well as protect our coral reefs?
