Finding Self-Care in the Little Things

Self-care can mean so many different things depending on who you are.

Now that I’m a mother of two, self-care has found a way to manifest itself much differently than when I was just a dog-mom. For example, I don’t have the luxury of sleeping in on the weekends or setting aside an entire day for the spa… so now I’ve found self-care in the little things. It’s all about perspective!


1.  Shower Time

My whole family knows that my shower time at night is when no one can bother me. Allen usually entertains the kids and gets them ready for bed while I’m doing my thing. This is when I test new hair products and face masks… I light up a candle, listen to music and totally get into a serene mood.

2. Podcasts

I sadly don’t have as much time as I did before to sit down and put my nose in a book so I listen to podcasts and audiobooks regularly. I usually do this on my commute to and from the office, and I love being able to have that time to myself.

3. Working Out

I used to view working out as a chore but now that I don’t get to do it as often as I would like to, I find myself really looking forward to it every week! It helps clear my mind, focus and actually is a great time when I think of new ideas and inspiration.

4. Netflix and Chill

I don’t get to do this that much at all, but when I do, I totally relish it. I love mentally disconnecting from work and diving into a really good show at the end of a long day. Anything you guys are binge watching right now? Please share!

5. Mornings with Chloe and Colette

As you guys have probably seen on my Instagram, I get to play and cuddle with my girls every morning before I take Chloe to school. Watching them be so sweet with each other and play means the absolute world to me! It makes all the chaos worth it.

Like I said above, self-care means different things to different people and even then, what self-care means to you will still change over time! So, I encourage you to look for those little moments throughout your day and embrace them. How do you guys find time for self-care throughout your busy days?
