What to Wear to Work During the Summer

Trying to find an outfit for work on a hot summer day is tough.

You want something cool and breezy enough to handle the heat, but something that’s also office appropriate. Then you have to factor that office air conditioning into account. So what to wear? I came up with the perfect three-piece formula that can work for any 9 to 5 office – creative and corporate alike!

Keep scrolling to read my styling tips on what to wear to work during the summer:

Blazers

A blazer is the epitome of workwear. It's strong, makes a statement, always a classic and it can be thrown over just about anything! This summer for me is all about lightweight linen blazers. Linen is the perfect fabric for warm weather: it's cool, breezy, breathable and is scientifically proven to keep you cooler than other fabrics. It's weather appropriate, work appropriate, stylish and great to have on if that AC is blasting! The one I'm wearing here is from Seaside Tones, but I found a bunch of similar options that I also love below!

Shop Maternity Jeans

Bottoms

My bottoms of choice this summer are well… maternity jeans. I remember when I was pregnant with Chloe, maternity jean styles were the worst. I hated the contrast color band or wrap, and I just never felt comfortable! This time around, I found this pair from Paige Denim and love them so much I got about 4 other pairs! You can’t even tell that they’re maternity jeans, which is a huge plus for me. The elastic band blends right into the jeans!

If you can’t wear jeans to work I’d grab a pair of trousers like these or these! Black is always a classic and anchors any look.

Shop Shoes

Accessories

Accessories might be the most important part of an outfit. For the office, a simple tote bag like this one is perfect. This one is from Saint Laurent (check out a similar bag here) and I love its clean lines and the option to wear it with a longer strap.

When it comes to shoes, you can’t go wrong with a pair of classic white pumps. White shoes are totally on trend and a fun change from a classic black. I think at this point white heels are the new nude heels! The pair I’m wearing here are from Prada but check out some similar picks in the widget above!
