Do you ever feel like you could use a vacation from your vacation? Toting along a toddler (and a hubby) can get stressful, especially if you’re going to be gone for long periods of time. So, in the spirit of total relaxation, I try to make sure to do everything I can ahead of time to make sure everything goes as seamlessly as possible.
As you might know from Instagram, I traveled straight from Couture Week in Paris to a family reunion in Hawaii. (Read: longest travel day ever.) I ended up packing for Paris AND Hawaii in the same suitcase, and let me tell you…I’m getting anxiety just thinking about it again! I knew that I needed to have a packing strategy, so I stuck with these two simple rules:
1. I needed to be able to wear the pieces in multiple ways.
2. Everything I packed needed to be comfortable (helloooooo 7-month baby bump) and breezy.
As you might remember from this post here, one piece bathing suits also double as AMAZING bodysuits! The one I’m wearing here is from Solid and Striped and it has super cute cut outs on the sides, making it super comfortable for my belly but it will also fit just as well after the baby arrives. It also comes with a super chic belt, but I’ll save that for when I’m not preggers!
Pro Tip: always throw in some ziplock bags to use for wet bathing suits when you travel.
Another thing that’s easy to pack that you can wear in several ways are sundresses. Beach cover-up? Check. Throw it on with sandals to grab breakfast? Check. Wear it with some cute flats or heels for a nice dinner? Check. Dresses are super versatile and an absolute tropical travel necessity.
The one I’m wearing here is from Saloni (similar here and here) and I’m in love with all of the colors and prints it has! I’m wearing it here unbuttoned as a cover-up, but it works perfectly as a transition piece. Though this dress is starting to get a little tight around the baby bump, I’m glad I’ve been able to wear it a lot while pregnant! It’s loose and breezy which means that even after I can’t button it up anymore, it’ll still work perfectly as a cover-up.
So let’s talk summer accessories, shall we? Beach bag, sandals, and sunglasses are the tropical vacation accessories holy trinity. Some classic Ray Bans inspired by my girl Hannah’s last post, some comfy slip-on sandals that work just as well with jeans as they do with a bathing suit, and a simple yet chic straw beach bag (check out this one under $100!) to hold it all (including all of Chloe’s beach toys)!
Do you guys stick to any packing rules when you travel? I want to know them! Drop a comment down below and have a great day!
