2 Minute Smoky Eye

Happy Monday, everyone! I’m super excited to have a special guest on the blog today, my good friend Ting! You might remember seeing some of her amazing makeup work on the blog (like here and here) and how she helped me create so many different looks back during fashion week here. She has so many amazing tips and tricks and I’m constantly asking her for her beauty tips and secrets. Then, it dawned on me! Why not bring her into the office to pick her brain and shoot her at the same time?

The first tutorial we’re starting with is the 2 Minute Smoky Eye. It’s super easy and seriously only takes 2 minutes – we timed her! Scroll down to read the step-by-step process including all of the products used to achieve this look. It’s the perfect answer for those days that you hit the snooze button one too many times but still want to look a little sultry – we’ve all been there. 😉 


Step 1 – Using the Urban Decay Naked 1, apply the color Half Baked, which is a gorgeous light gold color all over the lid using a brush like this one here.

Step 2 – Then, apply the color bronzey-copper shade Smog on the outer lid and outer crease area with a brush like this.

Step 3 – Apply the color Dark Horse, which is a subtle metallic brown on the outer lid and on top of the color Smog.

Step 4 – Apply the color Dark Horse on the lower lid (on the outer lower lash line) with a brush like this to really define your eyes. 

Step 5 – Apply some eyeliner on the upper lid and on the lower waterline. (You can choose any kind of eyeliner, but Ting used a liquid waterproof eyeliner from Stila- see it here!) 

Step 6 – (Optional) Apply some false eyelashes. Ting is a professional, so applying false lashes took her, like, .2 seconds. (Would you guys like to read about some of Ting’s tips for false eyelashes? Let me know below!) 

Et voilá! The perfect two-minute smoky eye. Although Ting used brushes for the tutorial, you can easily use your fingers as well! And if you don’t have the Naked 1 palette, check out this one here that has similar colors!
