A Faux Slit

I always try to push the limits with my outfits during fashion week. Unfortunately in the past, I’ve made some outfit mistakes. Sometimes I look back on pictures and get quite embarrassed! The truth is, finding your style is a never-ending journey. However, I feel like this fashion week, Paris Haute Couture A/W ’16 was my best fashion week yet. I truly felt like the outfits I wore during this time around reflected my personal style. I think the key thing is knowing what works for you, your style and finding an unexpected twist. These next few weeks I’ll be sharing with you some of the outfits I wore through this fashion season!

So first off is the Versace look that I wore to the Versace show. I absolutely adore this dress as is, but I felt like it needed a little extra something. So if you guys follow me on snapchat, you saw that I took this amazing Kalmanovich skirt and layered it on top! I unzipped the zipper making a faux slit. At first, I wasn’t quite sure if it was something I could pull off, but I took a photo of it on my phone (my secret to picking out an outfit is always seeing how it photographs) and it actually looked amazing!

This was my 2nd Atelier Versace show and as expected it was incredibly glamorous and sexy. What I loved most were the unexpected feminine touches that Donatella infused into the line. The silhouettes were breathtaking but what really stole the show was the dramatic drapery. I felt like this collection was a bit more understated than her last collections in the best way possible. It was all about drapery and movement. I loved that she paired the most unexpected colors together but somehow it just worked. There was an ethereal sky blue and bright crimson red that played off of each other perfectly.

I guess the moral of the story is 1) think outside the box with pieces you already have. Whether it be tying a belt, layering a skirt or playing it up with your accessories, you can transform anything in your wardrobe into something amazingly unexpected. And 2) have a really awesome black skirt on hand! I love this skirt is from Kalmanovich, but I also scoured the internet for you all to find some amazing black skirts that you can layer over your dresses down in the widget below!
