My Glasses Story

Do I look like a dork in my glasses? I’ve always been self conscious of how I look in glasses, so when I accidentally sat on them a few years ago (oops!), I just figured it was the universe agreeing with me that I should wear my contacts all the time. But as I’m preparing for the baby, I’ve realized it doesn’t really make sense to put on contacts first before tending to my crying baby at 3 in the morning. (Not to mention I’d have to be able to actually see my baby in order to take care of her hah.) So last week I went to Lenscrafter to finally get an eye exam in over 3 years! (Oops again.. sometimes a girl gets too busy, right?) And as it turns out, eye exams has gotten super tech savvy since I’ve last been to the optometrist ..

Getting informed on what’s going on behind my eyeballs .. luckily I have healthy eyes!

& now they can electronically figure out what my prescription is using this sci-fi looking machine. No more, “is this more clear, or is this more clear?”

They must have put me through 3 different machines to get a scan of my eyes and what’s behind my eyes. Not going to lie though, this blue light was pretty cool. I have to admit going to the eye doctor was never my favorite thing to do.  To be honest I recall feeling a bit overwhelmed with the usual routine… you know, ” Which is better–option one or two?” so when I heard about the  efficiency of the AccuExam I was quite excited!  They use advanced digital technology to provide high-resolution and 3D images which allows the doctor to see the current state  of your eye and also allows them to detect health issues including glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes.

This was the old way of getting new lenses .. I think it’s kind of cool in a mad scientist sort of way.

Finally, long story short.. I got my glasses! I’m really excited about these Versace cat eye glasses, and I love especially the studded details on the frames. I can finally give my eyes a break from long hours at the computer!

Because of the long hours I spend in front of my computer, I’ve always had to take extra care of my eyes. Otherwise I’d wake up with incredibly dry eyes due to the strain I put on them. That’s why I’m glad this exam was so thorough in checking if my eyes are healthy or not. (Aren’t we happy that technology can streamline healthcare now?) It also definitely makes getting a checkup easier since I was in and out of there in under an hour!  I want to be the most prepared that I can be for my baby girl, and it definitely starts with my health first. After my appointment at Lenscrafter I realized that I need to be just as proactive with my eyes  just as I am with the rest of my body. From getting my eyes checked up every few months, to wearing sunglasses, to letting your eyes have a break from the computer screen, and even feeding them the right nutrients such as omega-3 Fatty Acid (lots of  leafy greens, salmon, eggs, nuts, and beans). If it’s been a while since you guys have gotten a checkup, I definitely recommend on getting the AccuExam ! Plus you’d get to update your glasses game, am I right?
