Do I look like a dork in my glasses? I’ve always been self conscious of how I look in glasses, so when I accidentally sat on them a few years ago (oops!), I just figured it was the universe agreeing with me that I should wear my contacts all the time. But as I’m preparing for the baby, I’ve realized it doesn’t really make sense to put on contacts first before tending to my crying baby at 3 in the morning. (Not to mention I’d have to be able to actually see my baby in order to take care of her hah.) So last week I went to Lenscrafter to finally get an eye exam in over 3 years! (Oops again.. sometimes a girl gets too busy, right?) And as it turns out, eye exams has gotten super tech savvy since I’ve last been to the optometrist ..
Getting informed on what’s going on behind my eyeballs .. luckily I have healthy eyes!
& now they can electronically figure out what my prescription is using this sci-fi looking machine. No more, “is this more clear, or is this more clear?”
They must have put me through 3 different machines to get a scan of my eyes and what’s behind my eyes. Not going to lie though, this blue light was pretty cool. I have to admit going to the eye doctor was never my favorite thing to do. To be honest I recall feeling a bit overwhelmed with the usual routine… you know, ” Which is better–option one or two?” so when I heard about the efficiency of the AccuExam I was quite excited! They use advanced digital technology to provide high-resolution and 3D images which allows the doctor to see the current state of your eye and also allows them to detect health issues including glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes.
This was the old way of getting new lenses .. I think it’s kind of cool in a mad scientist sort of way.

Finally, long story short.. I got my glasses! I’m really excited about these Versace cat eye glasses, and I love especially the studded details on the frames. I can finally give my eyes a break from long hours at the computer!
Because of the long hours I spend in front of my computer, I’ve always had to take extra care of my eyes. Otherwise I’d wake up with incredibly dry eyes due to the strain I put on them. That’s why I’m glad this exam was so thorough in checking if my eyes are healthy or not. (Aren’t we happy that technology can streamline healthcare now?) It also definitely makes getting a checkup easier since I was in and out of there in under an hour! I want to be the most prepared that I can be for my baby girl, and it definitely starts with my health first. After my appointment at Lenscrafter I realized that I need to be just as proactive with my eyes just as I am with the rest of my body. From getting my eyes checked up every few months, to wearing sunglasses, to letting your eyes have a break from the computer screen, and even feeding them the right nutrients such as omega-3 Fatty Acid (lots of leafy greens, salmon, eggs, nuts, and beans). If it’s been a while since you guys have gotten a checkup, I definitely recommend on getting the AccuExam ! Plus you’d get to update your glasses game, am I right?
What do YOU think?

I love the new glasses! Sooo cute! I hardly ever wear my frames but I spent so much time picking out the perfect tortoise shell lenses that I should bring them out more often. Thanks for reminding me we can be chic even with four eyes! 😉

They really compliment your face shape!
You look great with glasses, you should all embrace your glasses. I love mine, I have 2 pairs that are really different. One is pair is more girly and the other one is more crazy looking. Have fun with your glasses <3

Dear Chriselle,
thank you for sharing your evolution of your relationship with your glasses. I always felt “ugly” in glasses and wore contacts all through high school and college. I am only now starting to embrace them since I got a new pair with more square-ish frames from Lenscrafters as well.
also this may not be the right forum to ask the Q but there’s no generic “contact me” page on your blog site. Do you let us know if your post was sponsored by a company? I know some bloggers say an item was “a gift from X company” or “thanks to X company” but I feel of late the line is getting blurry because some posts will say “in collaboration with X company.” Was this post sponsored by Lenscrafters?
Sincerely,
Lori
I feel the same way! I lost my glasses a year ago by loosing it in the studio I was working at late at night. Since then I wasn’t able to find them. And I’ve been very self-conscious about wearing them– afraid I wouldn’t be taken seriously, too young, the way wearing them made me feel gross with oils sitting on my face. I hope to find a good pair that would accurately reflect my personality and make me feel confident! Thanks for sharing Chriselle. x

Such a cute story Chriselle! I’ve worn glasses since I was 8 and then began with contacts in high school but hated putting them in in the morning and getting dry throughout the day so I finally got LASIK last year but still miss my geek chic look I got when wearing my glasses occasionally haha! Glasses look fab on you 😉

I have been wearing glasses for almost two years now and too remember the eye exam that was given me, asking me which one was clearer and blah blah blah. I think I need to go back and get that 3D exam for a more thorough diagnosis and then maybe pick up those Versace glass frames 🙂
Which brand are the glasses in the top right corner from, on the second to last picture ? 🙂
And you look pretty with your glasses 🙂

Love the glasses on you. I’m 18 and have actually never gotten my eyes checked on, oops! I’ll be making my appointment now, haha! But I’m interested, you said that you took extra good care of your eyes since you are looking at a screen for a large part of the day and I’m wondering if you could share how you did that? With college essays, social media, and starting a blog I’ve been glued to the screen and would love some tips on how to take care of my eyes!
Thank you! <3

We neglect our eyes the most. With all our hours spent behind the computer, surely it can’t be healthy. Loved the pictures in this post and the inside story!
