Somewhere In Between

Photography by Jana Williams

I’ve always been drawn to classically feminine silhouettes. It was all evoked by  my obsession with the 1950s glamour,  and my fascination with the exquisitely cut pieces from Christian Dior haute couture. High waisted circle skirts are conceivably one of my favorite things to wear. I frolicked all summer long in my short circle skirts (here & here), but as the weather is slowly  transitioning so are my skirts. I’ve been ceaselessly accumulating full knee length skirts for this season, as I think it’s more weather appropriate for the months to come.  I was immediately drawn to this skirt for its’ soft grey color & thick sweater like material. Grey is one of those hues that transpires well with any color, and the thick material is not only  great for the colder seasons, but it also retains the voluminous construction. Although this Mid century inspired cut is something to covet this season, it’s also something to be cautious about as it often times can look “matronly” if styled the wrong way. Equipping on a modern element , such as a leather jacket or a pair of strong statement shoes, rejuvenates this mid century inspired look. I think it’s safe to say that I often find myself Somewhere In Between– drawing inspirations from the past, and infusing it with what’s now and what’s to come.

Over the weekend I flew in to San Jose to celebrate my uncles 60th birthday bash, and to spend some quality time with the family. I’ll be spending 2 more days here in the bay with my team as we are filming and shooting 2 new projects in San Francisco. Can’t reveal quite yet what we are working on , but make sure to follow me on Instagram  & twitter to get some hints 🙂
