How to Sneak SPF into Your Routine

I’ve been preaching about SPF for years now.

You need to wear it every. single. day (even when you’re flying)!

Overcast? SPF. Sunny? SPF. Cold out? Yup, you guessed it: you need SPF! To break it down, no matter what the weather is like outside, the sun still gives off harmful UVA and UVB rays that can damage your skin and lead to skin cancer. (UVB rays give you that unwanted sunburn and UVA rays get soaked up deeper in your skin and I don’t have to tell you how bad that is!)

I’ll admit, it takes a while to get into the habit of putting on an SPF every morning, but I’ve got some good news for you. It’s the best thing you could ever add to your routine and it’s easier now than ever to sneak in that much-needed SPF into your everyday routine. SPF comes in many shapes, sizes and forms so I’ve gathered some of my favorites for you to shop (just in time for summer)!

Dr. Barbara Sun Drops SPF 50

You guys might have seen me talk about these Sun Drops before, and I haven’t stopped using them since. If you’ve never heard of them before, it’s basically SPF in a serum that you can add to any moisturizer for sun protection (I’m loving this cult favorite from Augustinus Bader right now!) or you can wear it on its own and it instantly gives you some SPF. On top of giving you SPF protection, I love that it feels so hydrating and greaseless. It’s also formulated with Vitamin E and Beta-Glucan which helps promote cell turn-over! If you’re using the sun drops, be sure to re-apply after sweating, swimming or exposure to any water.

Supergoop! Super Power Sunscreen Mousse SPF 50

This SPF is actually formulated like a mousse. It might not seem as sneaky as SPF drops, but something about the light mousse makes this sunscreen feel so luxe! It works great on your face, neck, shoulders and is water resistant for up to 80 minutes which makes it ideal for sitting by the pool or working out outside. The texture also makes it fun for the kids to put on sunscreen. One thing I noticed about this formula, in particular, is that it’s very moisturizing and easily soaks right into your skin- which you wouldn’t necessarily expect from a mousse!

Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen SPF 35

Everyone on the CINCteam is obsessed with this sunscreen, including myself! It works almost like a makeup primer. It’s got Japanese wild rose which is what smooths the look of pores and your skin texture overall. And yes, it does feel silky just as it says. There’s also loquat leaf extract in it which has tons of antioxidants and helps calm your skin. What’s not to love? It goes on so super silky smooth. You’ll love it so much you’ll never forget sunscreen again!

Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50

So usually, SPF is put on as a base before your makeup, but sometimes you go on autopilot and totally forget to wear sunscreen  – especially if you’re just starting to get into the SPF habit. That’s where this setting mist comes in handy. It’s SPF 50, which is amazing for a spray and it smells INCREDIBLE! It’s got rosemary oil and peppermint oil to help balance skin and protect against free radicals. I like to use this on top of my makeup and for an extra refresh and SPF reapplication throughout the day!

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15

We’ve all needed a little touch up throughout the day, right? Especially when it’s warm outside or say we sweat a little. This compact is the perfect way to not only give your makeup a little refresher but to add a little SPF to it while you’re at it! The pressed powder formula is super sheer so it gives that perfect glow. You can either add it as more of a bronzer with a warmer tone or as a glow/highlight with a lighter one. Either way, it helps protect against environmental pollutants and contains white rose and cotton flower to soothe your skin no matter how sensitive it is. Plus, it’s going to look CHIC AF in your bag.

Supergoop! Shimmer Shade SPF 30

Have you ever heard about SPF for your eyelids? It’s one of those areas that you might forget about when applying SPF. I discovered these shimmer shades from Supergoop! not too long ago and I’m so into them. They give the perfect subtle wash of shimmer on your eyelids (perfect for the beach or the pool) AND have SPF 30! You guys know how much I love a good double duty product and this is the perfect addition to your summer makeup routine.

Fresh Sugar Sport Treatment Sunscreen SPF 30

Don’t forget SPF for your lips! This lip balm has SPF 30 and is so SO moisturizing! I’ve tried a lot of SPF lip balms, but I keep coming back to this one. The balm is also great for the rest of your face, but I love the bigger stick application which helps you really get every corner of your lips. It’s water resistant which is ideal if you’re swimming or playing sports. Not only does the formula have SPF, but it also has a lot of nourishing oils like avocado oil!

Cle Cosmetics CCC Cream Radiant Skin SPF 45

This is a newer discovery, and I’m so in love with it! It’s pretty much skincare, foundation, primer, and SPF in one bottle. It’s hydrating, slightly tinted (so it’s great to wear on its own or to layer with your usual makeup) and it has SPF 45. I love how lightweight it is because you can barely feel anything on your skin. A game changer for the warmer seasons and something I’ll be reaching for all summer long!

Supergoop! Glow Stick SPF 50

I was a little hesitant about this at first, but now it has a permanent place in my SPF shelf! It’s a clear stick that looks like it would be greasy but it’s the exact opposite. It gives the most subtle glow and acts almost like a highlighter. The application is super smooth and creamy and it’s the perfect size to throw into your purse or beach/pool bag and re-apply throughout the day!
