How to Get Glass Skin with Makeup

I’ve been fascinated by the ‘Korean Glass Skin’ trend for a while now.

If you’ve been following me, you might remember this post here that I wrote last year! It’s all about the products I use to achieve the ‘glass skin’ look.

Well, I thought it might be time for an update. So today, I’m sharing how I create Glass Skin… with makeup! It’s that same gorgeous, glowy, and refreshed look but with a little more coverage!

Keep scrolling to discover how I achieve this look:

So, less is more when it comes to glass skin… as you can imagine. It’s all about perfecting your skin BEFORE you add your makeup! So first thing’s first- get your skin prepped and ready!

1. Mask Before Makeup
Using a mask before you put on your makeup is the best way to guarantee you have hydrated and plump skin! The one I’ve been super into recently is this dry sheet mask. Yep, you read that right- a DRY sheet mask! It’s by Charlotte Tilbury and the first time I used it, it actually reminded me of a dryer sheet.

I was skeptical at first, but after using it just once I was thoroughly impressed. In just 15 minutes, my skin was plump, hydrated and I felt like my entire complexion was so much brighter!

2. Moisture Moisture Moisture!
After you’re done masking, it’s important to start out with a base of hydration! Anytime I get my makeup done by a makeup artist, they always prep my face with a light moisturizer and I’ve started to do the same thing when I apply my makeup myself! This Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream, which she’s known for, has been what I’ve been reaching for recently. I let the moisture soak in for about 5 minutes before I continue with the rest of my routine!

(PS: this post isn’t sponsored- I just really love these products so I wanted to share!)

3. Flawless Filter
This is my glass skin SECRET! When I met with Charlotte the other week, she told me that the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter she said was inspired by the pretty filter on IG- you all know which one I’m talking about! What a time… to be alive!

You apply it all over your face and it gives you this instant gorgeous smooth and bright complexion! Though it’s tinted, it’s important that I mention that it’s not meant to give you full coverage- just to give you that glow! You can use it without foundation, you can mix it in with your foundation, or for the super glass skin effect, you can put it on top of your foundation! The shade I’m using is #3 Light/Medium!

Though I’ve been rocking this by itself recently- when I do wear foundation, I’ll usually put on my Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It’s very light in texture, gives you a subtle glow and maximum coverage. To cover up any blemishes or red spots I may have, I’ve been using the stretch concealer from Glossier. It’s super creamy and blends so nicely!

4. Powder Your Nose
This step is key. Though the goal is glass-skin, you don’t want to look too wet! So I go in with a light finishing powder on my t-zone and anywhere else I tend to get oily. I’ve been using this Flawless Finish Micro Powder from Charlotte Tilbury in shade #1!

5. Highlight
To finish off the glass skin look, I like to pat this oil stick from Rodin on my cheekbones! It’s not your typical highlighter and I love it! It smells amazing and gives more of a hydrating glow as opposed to a disco ball glow! You get a gorgeous sheen that keeps you moisturized- what’s not to love?

Finish everything off with a face mist like this one here and you’re good to go! Are you guys going to try this makeup look? Let me know in the comments below!
