Meet Your Ultimate Summer Beauty Basics

Summer always brings out my best skin and some of my favorite beauty looks.

Think dewy, natural and bronzed with a hint of natural shimmer. Basically, like an endless summer vacation for your face! I pulled some of my favorite summer beauty basics that I have on rotation this season to share with you all. Keep scrolling to discover what  I use to get that summer glow!

Eyes

This season, I’m all about easy and quick eye makeup with high shine. You might remember me talking about this liquid eyeshadow from this post here and I’m still obsessed with it. For the perfect easy golden shimmer that stays on all day, I grab the Lidstar in the shade ‘Moon’ and put it all over my lid. It’s so subtle and adds the perfect amount of shine to your lids. If I want to add a little definition, I use a light brown shimmer shadow (like this one here) but for the most part, I love the Lidstar on its own! To finish off my eyes, I’ll grab the Glossier Lash Slick to define my lashes and help make my eyes pop and make my lashes look longer naturally.

Foundation

I try to go au natural over the summer when it comes to foundation but when I know I need a little help aka coverage, I’ll go thetinted moisturizer route. This one from YSL is great! It’s sheer, goes on like silk, smells great, is super lightweight and has SPF- the perfect summer day base.

If you need more coverage than just a tinted moisturizer, then I would add some more concealer where you need it or add this foundation here! It’s clean, light and gives great buildable coverage.

Skincare

For that perfect “I just got back from vacation glow” this summer, I’ve found myself reaching for Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Glow Drops. They add a super subtle and natural glow that you can wear over your makeup or on its own! It’s moisturizing, helps refine pores, is anti-aging and gives you more of that natural grow (which I’m a huge fan of).

Along with keeping up my normal skincare routine over the summer, I like to add an intense moisture mask to my usual routine. This one from Circumference is an intense, silky moisturizing mask that instantly hydrates and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple.

Highlighter and Bronzer

Highlighters are so much fun to play around with and there are so many different kinds to choose from. I’ve been on the lookout for clean and natural makeup brands and products since I’ve been pregnant so I was so excited to find this highlighter from Lilah B.! It’s a cream to powder highlighter which means it’s easy to control and blends naturally into my skin. This also has black currant seed oil and sunflower oil which helps with your skin inflammation!

Another highlighter that I love to use is this liquid one from Rodin! You might recognize the brand from a few posts because I love the face oil and hair oil. This highlighter is like putting drops of liquid gold on your face! It’s got a gorgeous golden tone that settles into your skin for the perfect bronze glow. I add it onto my beauty blender for that natural shine from within look!

What summer glow is complete without a great bronzer? This bronzer by Tom Ford gives you a buildable glow that will make you look like you just got back from a tropical vacation! You can either brush it in all over or give your cheekbones and décolletage a hint of color.

Accessories

Simple and chic with a twist is what I’m loving this season when it comes to accessories! These handwoven slides from Loq are the perfect (and not to mention super comfortable) vacation companion. They’re made out of leather so not only do they get more gorgeous over time, but they’re really breathable as well. This bag (check it out here!) has such an interesting silhouette and I was immediately drawn to it. The coolest part? You can change the strap around to fit the bag in tons of different ways!

Lips and Cheeks

I took a cue from Hannah’s waterproof makeup post and have been using a cream based blush to add some color to my cheeks! This one from Tata Harper also works great as a lip tint! It’s extremely buildable, natural, non-toxic and I love how it just melts into my skin. Another blush I’m loving is this one from Armani which you might recognize from my Instagram! It’s a water-based liquid that gives a gorgeous sheer flush of color on my cheeks!

When it comes to lips, you know how much I love a statement lip, but this season, I’ve been really into an almost bare lip look. For an extra something something, this lip oil from Rodin gives a great high shine without the stickiness! It looks natural, adds a gorgeous gleam and is moisturizing. It’s in a universally flattering shade that looks good on everyone! For those times I’m feeling a wash of color- I’ll grab this lipstick from YSL. It’s sheer, so that means it’s buildable, super moisturizing and smells like candy.

Last but not least, the perfect summer scent is a total necessity. For an easy scent that I can take with me everywhere, I use the Glossier You soild perfume! It smells like a dream and the solid lets me reapply throughout the day.
