The Girl Boss Files | Whitney Port

I’m so incredibly lucky to have found such an amazing and empowering circle of amazing girl bosses here in LA; mommy CEO’s included. One of them is the always gorgeous Whitney Port! You might remember her from TV, but now she runs a killer blogYouTube channel and is the creative director of bloom2bloom and Bundle Organics. Just last week, we were able to sit down and catch up on all things mommy, work, life and everything in-between.

Keep scrolling to read my interview with her!

Q: What is the best career advice you’ve ever given / you’ve ever received?

A: The best thing anyone ever told me is that there is no such thing as failure within your career life. Quitting, getting fired, or starting a new venture when a previous one didn’t work out doesn’t mean failure was at hand, it just means something wasn’t meant to be at that time and life will throw you another curve ball that you can handle and will thrive at!

Q: What’s on your travel bucket list?

A: Dying to go to Italy!!!! Good thing is, I am going with my husband this summer and could not be more excited. I have never been and seriously can’t wait. We are going to Rome and the Amalfi Coast (sans Sonny), so it should be nice and relaxing.

Q: What’s your favorite midnight snack?

A: Gummy bears!!!

Q: What are the top three songs on repeat right now?

A: Shoffy-Motions
Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line- Meant To Be
Kygo-Firestone

Q: How do you balance your mom life and your work life?

A: I don’t necessarily think there is such a thing. I think everything needs more attention than others at different points and it’s about managing how and when you can give it without beating yourself up for not being able to be everything to everyone. Some days are more work heavy, others more family, others more for you! And that’s ok. Not all aspects of your life need your full attention at all times and it’s ok to divvy up your time.

Q: What’s your current read?

A: HA! Honestly, right now it’s an issue of US WEEKLY next to my bed. I need to get better at reading! I just am so tired these days – I’ll fall asleep after 1 page in!

Q: You’ve become really open about your struggles of motherhood on your YouTube channel. What urged you to keep it so raw and real?

A: I was down and out in my first trimester of pregnancy and just felt this urge to be real with people about what it really was like for me in hopes that other women would validate and support! And that’s exactly what happened. We continued to post what I was really going through and it was a breath of fresh air for me and my followers. Pregnancy isn’t just rainbows and butterflies like most people show. It’s a life-changing, identity-altering thing that needs to be dealt with in a real way so that people aren’t as shocked about it when it happens.

Q: How do you stay inspired?

A: I honestly don’t even know! I feel like me being happy, keeps me inspired! Having a child gave me so much perspective and made me so much more aware of how beautiful life is! Just looking around and being in the moment inspires me. I want to be my best and do my best for my family and that pushes me to always motivate to create.

A huge thanks to my girl Whitney for stopping by the office and hanging out! If you haven’t seen us get ready together yet, you can check it out HERE.
